アメリカ育ちの日本人です。外国に住めば住む程、日本の良さがわかります。文化も街並も人間も、すごい誇りです。日本人に生まれて、本当に良かった。ところで、河の流れのように…。美空ひばりさん、最高! I am a Japanese grew up in the U.S. More I live outside of Japan, more I recognize her charm. I am so proud of her culture, streets and people. I am truly grateful to be born a Japanese. BTW, the song - 河の流れのように (Like a Flowing River) ... Hibari Misora is the best!

I love the Japanese culture and the politeness and kindness of the people of Japan. I envied you. I am Chinese and we can lean a lot from the wonder people of Japan.
I'm from Iran and I believe politeness is a very important part of our culture. I visit Japan as my first foreign travel destination and guess what? I fell in love with Japanese culture. I've lived in Japan for few years and traveled there any chance I find. I know I'm not the only one feel this way. World is beautiful and life is short become sure to visit Japan not only for 1 week, plan a relaxed trip and try to somehow experience local life style. Thank you Japan, thank you Japanese for being such an amazing nation

Japanese people are considered to be polite but their behavior actually are worthy of praise. The action that they had taken after the earthquake had happened was very wonderful.

A beautiful nation full of honourable people. I wish every nation could be like the Japanese nation,
The important point is that some of the people on this video are working as Part-Time like university students. However, they serve with smile and always try to make the customers be comfortable.

BGM:「川の流れのように」 美空ひばり "Kawa no nagare no youni" Hibari Misora Hibari Misora became a popular singer and a screen player who carried everything before one in Japan at 12 years old (1949). Thereafter, she keeps taking an active part as a top rank singer in Japan. She begins to deteriorate the sickness in the latter half in her forties. She kept singing without allowing the sickness to cure to schedule the concert tour and the play performance that turned round the Japanese whole country. However, the sickness will deteriorate further during the concert tour, and it be urgent hospitalized. She was hospitalized about six months and recuperated home at the following. That was not made public at the people though her sickness was in a considerably serious state. After to some degree the recovery, she recorded the new song, and started the preparation for the Tokyo Dome stadium completion commemoration performance scheduled next year. The ambulance also was standing by the doctor and easy treatment tools and outside in her waiting room when Tokyo Dome performed. She has the foot disease, and whenever walking, it seems to distort the expression by acute pain. She finished singing 39 songs, left the runway of about 100 meters while waving to the spectator, took the ambulance while holding in the son afterwards, and went directly to the hospital. Her sickness has not improved after Tokyo Dome performs, and the state of the foot cannot also gone up the stairs of one step. However, her song was alive and well. She did the appearance of the television and the work of the performance of single-engined etc. while seeing the condition of the physical condition. However, it took a rest whenever one was sung, and breath was straightened. Having sung is this "Kawa no nagare no youni"(release in January, 1989) in those days Some videos to which she is singing this tune by the television program have been up to YOU TUBE. I cannot see the video so much.The reason for I am that tears overflow because her song is too splendid though she is sick. Hibari Misora death age at 52 years old on June 24, 1989

When I watch this kind of video, I always think I should behave politely toward everybody. And speaking with a smile helps us to communicate with each other smoothly, I wonder. It is true that politeness and courtesy is generally true of Japanese society but not all Japanese are kind and nice. When you travel in Japan, don't have a lot of expectations for Japan.^^;

There might be some situations where foreigners faced issues in Japan, however as a people....the Japanese are certainly united in more ways than one. and they have good social conduct generally. theweek.com/articles/486403/there-looting-japan
Were they like this before world war 2. Where did all that savagery come from, and where did it disappear too. Some film director said he believes it's still beneath the surface. I;m a a big fan of asian movies including Japanese. So this is not meant as a put down. I wish people over here would bow to each other. It's a lovely gesture.

Your question is valid. There is no way that the pre-war Japanese were evil and only the post-war Japanese are good. Our grandfathers and ourselves are equally good. Just like your country. I think we need to question the legitimacy of that trial that decided the losers of the war as wicked criminals.
To KuroiHato, the song from this vid is call KAWA NO NAGARE NO YOUNI by Hibari Misora.

When it comes to high performance, Japan is a gift to mankind. Because the beautiful Japanese people demonstrate that a society can voluntarily make a right effort and perform the best. If you are one of those tortured souls, worrying about going to heaven or hell; visit Japan and learn that we can build heaven right here on our beautiful planet. We can be a worthy sight under the glorious Sun. If there is such a thing as a holy land, then the Land of the Rising Sun is the holy land of high performance. 一番!!!

I don't agree with any comments below that criticize the Japanese or their culture except for one event, and I don't know why they do it. They select one man, every year, I think, and they make him run butt nekked down a path. The rest of the guys try to catch him and touch him. OK, every culture has their "thing", but to say Japanese are cruel inside (understandable, only if your Dad was at war with them), can not be condoned. I will not criticize the Japanese. They are smart, they pulled themselves out of Fukushima, and have always been wealthy. What more do you want, from a successful country. Oh yeah, they are also one of the strongest economies out there.

@homeostasis4me You are wrong. Americans, private sectors or governments (military) extended helps right after the Earthquake and Tsunami......we thank America. Also, the world.
Nothing out of ordinary or spectacular that you would not find in the US. Keep in mind almost all of these were customer service people, they've to win over customers hence being extra polite. Same as you'd find in any typical restaurants or shopping malls across America.
