Japanese Culture Kamishibai, Go Beyond Japan for World Peace: IKKYU
紙芝居 日本を超えて世界に平和を: いっきゅう
Born and raised in Kyoto, IKKYU is a student at Kyoto University of Foreign Studies. She recently received first prize in ʺA Pair Presentation Contest on Japanese Cultureʺ sponsored by Kyoto University of Foreign Studies, presenting on the art of Kamishibai(Japanese Storytelling). Fascinated by the Kamishibai style, she began studying the craft to become a Japanese storyteller, joining the Kamishibai group ʺYassan Ichizaʺ. On the 2nd, 12th, 22nd, and 23rd of every month, IKKYU performs Kamishibai at Kiyomizu Temple, in both English and Japanese, with her seniors. In the future she hopes to travel to different countries to share the joy and art of Kamishibai.
京都府出身。京都外国語大学在学中。日本全国の大学生が参加した第6回 森田杯・英文毎日杯「ペアで紹介する日本文化プレゼンコンテスト」で紙芝居を披露し、優勝を勝ち取る。以来、見ている人の元気を引き出す紙芝居の世界に魅了され、現在は学生業の傍ら50人以上の弟子が集う紙芝居一座「ヤッサン一座」で一流の紙芝居師になるべく勉強中。毎月2日、12日、22日、23日は兄弟子、姉弟子と共に清水寺にて口演するも、いかに観客を魅了するかに悪戦苦闘中。夢は大きく、紙芝居で世界を旅して世界中を笑顔でいっぱいにすること。
