Not sure why all the negative comments. Jujitsu is the mother art. Yes Judo has came out of it as well as BJJ. Remember he is a white belt who is covering the fundamentals of striking, blocking, trapping, small joint lock as well as the gross motor locking. Yes some of the traditional linages of Jujitsu may lack the resistance training that BJJ has but I feel that some are making that shift to that type of training. One has to learn the techniques first, drill them and then add the resistance. For me I have trained in both JJJ and BJJ, and always fall back to my roots in Jujitsu. I work in an ER and most often I use quite a bit of small joint manipulations as well as my other arts, rarely do I go to the ground but have enough training to survive any would be meth out characters that step in our ER.

Japanese jujitsu was created by the Samuri back in the 11th century. It is a mixed art for self defense and for war. The Samuri would use this in hand to hand and then use a dagger to finish off their assilant. People forget this. Judo came from this original art.

Well the construction workers would be in some trouble. And as for the getting jumped part, I would only use a guard if I HAD to. It is part of Jiu Jitsu for a very important reason, which is to learn how to GET OUT from under someone. I am a 6'5 Slav myself and I would knock teeth out until I ended up on the ground...then I would demoralize a few more.

a very good showing, more skill from this white belt than I see in many other styles with black belts. Why did you stop posting. Would enjoy seeing these exams from other ranks of your school. Hands on is the way to go. Seen too many belt tests where no one has ever been touched during testing.

@herbiesnerd Okay, while Koryu Jujutsu did not put an emphsis on striking(atemi-waza) as much as grappling, it did include atemi waza as part of its curriculum, and Takenouchi Ryu is the oldest koryu Jujutsu school currently in existence, dating back to 1532. Kodokan Judo also has stirking, otherwise, the term "atemi waza" wouldn't be needed. Carlos Gracie learned Judo from Mitsuyo Maeda, who was trained by Judo founder Jigoro Kano. Maeda had also studied Sumo, but never took Koryu Jujutsu.

we should be training like this in judo...too much sport creeping in and not keeping true to the martial aspect.
@Dontdothat53004 жыл бұрын
Sport isn’t creeping into Judo - Judo IS a sport. It’s an awesome sport, but a sport nonetheless. If you want more combat/defense then look into a Ju Jitsu school. Or, find an art like shotokan or yoshukai and mix it with your Judo. I believe there is no “perfect” art - each offers “tools” for your toolbox and situations dictate which tool to use. My .02 cents anyway.

@matperry65 Training in the kata of jujutsu gives one a deep understanding of theory. A deep understanding of theory allows one to have more various in application. The kata preserve techniques and allow them to be taught from one generation to the next. Jujutsu also does free sparing. However, if one trains in only free sparing then that person will have far less understanding of theory and will have a harder time teaching the next generation.

After simple O-Goshi, also known as hip throws, you shouldn't be tired. Jiu Jitsu translated means "the gentle art." It should be balance, timing, momentum, and technique. Very little strength, if any, is involved.

@matperry65 Ok, well when you get into a fight with somebody who knows ju jitsu, then you can judge. Watch another video of ju jitsu throws ad you will see why it's useful. The whole point of Ju jitsu is to use your opponents strength against them. Weather they are resisting or not, if they throw a punch or kick, there will be a lock or throw you can use to counter it perfectly. If they resist, it will hurt them more. It is a very, very effective way to deal with a confrontation on the street.
@gerardjohn12313 жыл бұрын
Good grading similar to ours but with minor differences but hey it's all good , can't believe the diagreements on here judo bjj and jujitsu are one and the same they all derive from one art , judo is all traditional jj made safer by Kano to great effect and bjj was created by a judoka going to brazil . If you have actually trained in them all you will see the similarities , some should stop being 1 dimensional and see the bigger picture

Jiu jitsu is the most efficient martial art against 1 oponnent. That's why you gotta train a strike martial art, like kickboxing, muay thai, karate, krav-maga etc. Do you know why i prefer BJJ ? Because i can talk to my oponnent, and make him quit without hurting him.

i guess i was talking about GJJ and BJJ... and as a quick warning, im going to start a friendly arguement lol but based on that time, its going to take you about 3 years to get your black belt.... a black belt is a symbol of mastery, in 3 years, can you really master your art?i kno i kno... there is still room to improve... but ive been doing gjj for the same time as you and am STILL a white belt. ill be a blue belt while your a black, think youll be able to submit me?
@batfan229111 жыл бұрын
People who obsess over BJJ often amuse me with ignorance. There is no "better" martial art and the fact is that if two fighters of equal skill in different arts got in a street fight, the winner will usually be the one who doesn't freeze. However, any good BJJ instructor would tell you that it is for sport and sport arts are generally less effective in real life. JJJ is combat tested and so are most traditional martial arts.

Alkhazred1 in Russia makes a good point. These guys are all old and slow and this is sport fighting. In a real fight with a well trained man the fight would be over before they could blink. The man who bends over and reaches out so gently would have had a lock, broken elbow and kick to the nuts in 3-seconds. This is not fighting, it's sport wrestling.
@BinaryBandit62813 жыл бұрын
@matperry65 right so let me get something straight when you're attacked or in a fight on the street you're going to go down on the ground and leave yourself wide open for another guy to plant a kick straight into your face......great plan doud.If you ask me judo or bjj is purely a competition sport i know because my friend got the shit bet out of him when he used bjj, a second guy ran over and started to kick him in the face (because he was on the ground doing a lock on a guy who attacked him.

The art of Ju Jitsu has evolved from that of the Samurai warrior. The Samurai had to fight in close quarters in full body armour. Judo, BJJ and Aikido are its descendants. All Samurai had knowledge of fighting. The Art itself as with many other Traditional martial arts is very philosophical. Your mind must be strong first, your body is just a shell. There is no way of knowing what skill your attacker has unless it is pre arranged competion fight. That is where stategy comes in!
@forteastro699612 жыл бұрын
@010010ryan honestly. i hate when martial arts give belts like its nothing. groumdfighting is awesome and theres no art like bjj where jjj is similar to many arts
@tywainwright111 жыл бұрын
Why would you pull guard in a fight? Also, even IF someone was stupid enough to pull guard in a fight, a BJJ fighter would armbar him and break his arm faster than his friends could get to him. He'd also probaby use less energy than his friends running towards you.
@010010ryan12 жыл бұрын
i do bjj and the way i learned it was feet together toes pointed out, toes assisted in your base and having your feet together made it easier to toss them over. guess its just the difference in our art lol @BlackShinobiShozoku but really? can you not support your own weight with you feet apart??
actuallly not i bet you havent trained japanese jiu jitsu nor braziliar ji jitsu norr judo actually the reason we land like that is atually to stop the body from hitting the ground with that force and landing doing that with the arm doesn't hurt if you do the correct technique.
@scotsdavy13 жыл бұрын
@mattperry65, Have you ever trained in Japanese jiu jitsu , I think your far wrong and ignorant in what your last comment, it all depends in the person i.e some people will feel comfortable in apply locks and throws in which they would use in street situations, i train in Japanese jiu jitsu and we are a full contact club, so less of the nonsense talk
@rawmark12 жыл бұрын
BJJ is only better in a competition manner. For street fighting Japanese Jiu Jitsu wins over BJJ any day of the week. Why, you ask? Because it's a close combat martial arts system whereas BJJ is grappling. So, if 3 guys are attacking you at once can you grapple them all to the ground? No, but with Japanese Jiu Jitsu you have a strong fighting chance and defending yourself. Oh, and remember why BJJ was developed too.

@patrickwhite81446 жыл бұрын
I can't comment on a lot of this, but I have been doing BJJ intensively for just over a year and your ground-fighting is very sketchy. 3:15 this mount escape would not work in practice because there is nothing stopping your opponent from posting out one of his hands to prevent himself being rolled. Also at 3:07 you don't effectively trap your opponents foot and you simply roll sideways rather than bridging over your shoulder. It might seem like I'm knit-picking, but this is what makes the difference between these techniques failing or succeeding.
@TM-rh7zs5 жыл бұрын
Patrick White Remember he is a whitebelt and still learning obviously the technique wont be perfect... Also ive seen these techniques used in bjj lol... Notice how he pushes his hips up grabs the opponent and puts his foot to the side then rolls over? Ive seen that done before... Also on the second one he grabs the GI then puts his foot to the side then rolls over? Either you go to a Mcdojo or you dont actually train bjj
@raggledaggle7215 жыл бұрын
You're unfamiliar with jjj. The white belt stage doesn't take as long as in BJJ where you go to blue. The yellow belt is somewhere in between 2 stripes. And Jjj is not focused on the ground. It includes strikes, throws, locks and grappling. You can't improve your groundgame as fast as in BJJ where the takedown is meant to be finished on the ground. It's almost 90% ground, whereas jjj includes standing too.

I find your comment immature. If you're a practitioner of a martial art, you should know that there is no such thing as a "better martial art". Sure, a BJJ blue belt could waste a JJJ black belt, it depends on many things. Their devotion, their instructors and the circumstances of the fight as well as coincidence. As for me, I've always prefered traditional japanese jiu jitsu and believe me, I did win fights against BJJ black belts before, but not because of my "superior" martial art.

+Matt Mosley Irrelevant. There's not even a single alphabet in the Japanese language. Although there are many different systems of Japanese romanization one can choose from, they're more relevant to linguists and translators alike. For lay people like you and I, we can spell or pronounce any given Japanese word any which way we're comfortable with. As long as we know, based on context, what a written/spoken word refers to, no correction is warranted.
@Matt_Mosley19838 жыл бұрын
Mouldy CPU I feel that it is. When people see 'Jiu Jitsu' they think of BJJ, as the Brazilians only spell it this way, so it has become a seperation to clarify whether the art is the original Japanese or the more modern Brazilian 'version' of it, and Ju Jitsu is the far more common way of spelling it.

+Timmy 260 Which derives from Jujitsu/Judo. There are styles of Jujitsu that resemble BJJ because that's where BJJ came from. Ne-waza came from Jujitsu and not Judo. It was just one specific style's way of executing stand up techniques on the ground. It would be crazy to think that warriors didn't come up with some of the most useful strategies and that some guys in Brazil did.
