This is a video I've been dreading to edit for the past couple of weeks -- I've since then bought a bunch of these books lol. So that's why you might have seen me show them in previous podcast episode ;)

I was browsing a Portuguese yarn shop and noticed that they sell japanese knitting books, such as Kaze Kobo Seamless Knit (風工房のシームレスニット). I think they offer international shipping, although I’m not sure if it would be more cost-effective for you to order from them. I just thought I'd let you know about it. The shop is called Retrosaria Rosa Pomar.

What a fascinating episode! You are introducing a lot of knitters to a world of knitting and knit design that has been heretofore not known or accessible. In the US Etsy offers a lot of these books at very reasonable prices - but you have to know about them first to look for them! Thanks so very much for sharing all this material and your unique approach to knitting. Yours is the only podcast that bridges the two worlds - Japanese and western knitting! I love your search for challenge in knitting techniques and design.

I’m trying to learn Japanese and I love crocheting and knitting, I never thought to get Japanese pattern books! It’s so cool to see two things I like come together like this, great video :)

Thanks for sharing! So many books that look gorgeous. It’s hard to resist the temptation to buy. I’m hoping to knit some patterns from the Japanese books that I have already. 🤭 can’t wait to see what makes it to your needles too!

My pleasure!! :( I can totally relate to that haha, which books do you have? :)

I can’t retrace the path exactly, but some of the designs in this episode sent me down a “are African knitwear designs a thing?” rabbithole
@SejiFields8 ай бұрын
Haha I've been down that rabbit hole too a couple of types, but there isn't really all that much in terms of handknit ones that come out with patterns -- or at least what I could find.

@@SejiFields same. I kind of get why, but it is a shame. I found one book that might be interesting. Knitting Out of Africa by Marianne Isager I didn’t get a look inside but it says it has 16 projects with the designs based on traditional African patterns. I don’t speak French or Arabic, they might be more useful in a search engine for this. I just got curious what was out there. I came across some cool Pintrest boards though, so other people are thinking about it. Good sign for the future, you know what i mean?

Yeah M. Isager travels a lot and is known for designing knitwear inspired by different countries -- her family does a lot with Japanese knitters as well I believe :) I've seen the collection before, but haven't gotten around purchasing any of her or her relatives books, because they're usually a bit more pricey -- would love to in the future though :) I have no shot when it comes to Arabic lol, but maybe searching in French might bring up some results, thanks so much for that idea and suggestions!! :))
