Nice work! We have flathead, kingfish (yellowtail) and Spanish mackerel here in Australia as well but unfortunately our flounder are generally very small😢

Watching how you fish I am not surprised your reel broke. When you hook a fish, lift your rod up and then wind the reel as you bring the rod down. Lift up - wind down - repeat. Then the rod is doing the work, not the reel.

If you are fileting the fish, why do you scale it? I only scale the fish if I'm going to eat the skin. I find that fileting the skin off is easier with the scales still attached. And less work.

Sometimes it seems the bail spring is broken but the bail itself is bent. Remove the fixing screw and see if it is out of shape. Both ends should go to their homes without fighting you. You can bend it back to the correct location.
