The high stepping is officially abolished (aka JSDF will not use and train high stepping as a part of the drill) in the JSDF. But by no mean this practice is banned. Japanese police and firefighting service maintain high stepping as well

Yes it is. This is the only unit that still retain this marching. We'll gonna wait if the whole JSDF units will restore this marching but with no intent to restore the old empire as well. Restoring this marching yes, but restoring the japanese empire big no.
