Although Wagakki Band started out doing covers - and this one in particular is incredible - it's really their original music that makes them special. Their live performance of Homura + Akutsuki no Ito is very popular with reactors. They also wrote a pandemic-themed song, Sakura Rising, with Amy Lee in 2020.

I'm so glad that you decided to react to this one. I suggested for the world music patron poll a while back, but it lost by a few votes and I really wanted to see your reaction to it. Btw, you didn't mention one of the traditional Japanese instruments. Kurona, the percussionist, was playing a set of traditional drums called wadaiko.

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。 This was filmed at Osaka-Jo (Castle) Hall with capa. of 16,000. This venue is known for its good acoustics for this kind of huge multi-purpose arena. It is very important to appreciate the beauty of Amy Lee's voice, and Yuko's as well. After this performance, Amy Lee posted a short video (2-min 30 sec) in YT about her happy experience in Japan with Wagakki Band including some hilarious scenes. Just so you know, I witnessed this song performed live beautifully by Evanescence in a big festival in Japan "Summer Sonic Tokyo 2023" on Aug. 23, last year right before the closing band, BABYMETAL 😍 (Both were excellent)

Love the fusion sound...created by outstanding musicians. Equal centerstage with ancient oriental instruments is just icing on the cake.

Lovely to see you do this. Wagakki Band in Tokyo 2018 was one of the best concerts I have been to in all my 69 years, and both of the Amy Lee collaborations they did (this and Sakura Rising) were excellent. Sadly Wagakki Band have announced that they will be taking an indefinite hiatus at the end of this year. Reading between the lines it seems they were somewhat worn out after 10 years constant recording and touring, and perhaps not happy about their record company making no effort to promote them overseas or even get them an international album distribution deal. Yuko also became seriously ill during her pregnancy, which probably didn't help. Hopefully we will see them again in the future. They were a breath of fresh air in a Japanese music scene dominated by inane pop and identikit metal bands.

She must have been really thrilled working with this mix because she sounds majestic on her power notes. She really rocks that kimono, too.

Wagakki is fantastic. Drum Tao did a cover of High Hopes from Panic at the Disco, that was very good using traditional instruments and their singer was I think not normally part of the band but killed it.

An excellent album is the 1964 recording mostly improvised by jazz clarinetist Tony Scott, "Music For Zen Meditation", recorded with two Japanese musicians on Koto and Shakuhachi and considered the first New Age album...

Wow! Thanks! Amy Lee's voice is so other-worldly and mixes so well with this group. BTW, if you like Japanese fusion-y music, listen to almost anything by Keiko Matsui. Most of her stuff is instrumental, but she does occasionally snag a vocalist as well

@BethRoars Thank you very much! Best day in a while! This is my favorite version of this song and I love how well it all works together. Its just soooooooo good! Let me repay you. If you're interested in vocaloid, passion, empathy, Japanese vocal techniques, you ABSOLUTELY need to listen to Ado. She is the total package. You could spend hours just on this song alone I think. I don't even understand Japanese but the emotion in this is unmistakable. The vocal performance of the year for me. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZnTnYCmopmWqsUsi=i9CROfAST1tMtDBm Have a great one!

(I still HATE HATE HATE the "dude" in the call & response! It ruins the song.) I really have a hard time imagining anyone (this guy sucks just bad!) The "fake/growl" on the dude-part just ruins this otherwise great song!) I wanted to love this song so much! (but, the "rap-section" and ANY dude who tries to "take over" at that moment always fails!) F Get him This song is AMY's song! I refuse the "duet-dude"
