Ichthyology nerd here, the "tanago" fish are called bitterling in english theyres around 40 species all native to asia with the european bitterling (rhodeus amarus) also beeing found in europe they where set out theyre a long time ago by humans originating from asia which is ironic given the name.
@TAKA_ojfc4 ай бұрын
I respect your extensive knowledge of fish. I only recently learned that tanago fish are called "betterlings." Please forgive my poor English. As you say, it is unfortunate that ecosystems are being lost all over the world by humans. The number of native species of tanago fish in Japan has also decreased, and most of the tanago fish currently being fished are native to mainland China and its neighboring countries. It is truly unfortunate.

I watched a documentary on this type of fishing years ago . Fishing is fun no matter what size of fish each of us pursue

I think so. Each person has a different way of enjoying fishing. One of the ways to enjoy it is to catch big fish and lots of fish. However, in addition to the result of catching fish, there is also a way to enjoy the season, the atmosphere, and sometimes catching small fish. I love this little fishing spot that is full of memories with my grandfather and father.

I also enjoy this kind of fishing! What bait do you use if it’s not a secret? I would also like to know how you know when to set the hook?
@TAKA_ojfc4 ай бұрын
Of course I will teach you. In Japan, there is a bait for micro fishing. I use a bait called "Tanago Gluten". Some anglers make bait by mixing flour with egg yolk. I couldn't understand the second question very well with my English skills. If I understand correctly, setting the hook is when you make the rig. Not after you arrive at the fishing spot.
@ExtremeCanDyland4 ай бұрын
@@TAKA_ojfc Thank you very much! In my second question I meant : When the fish bites the hook , when do you pull the rod and how long do you wait to pull the rod?
@TAKA_ojfc4 ай бұрын
@@ExtremeCanDyland I see, I understand your question. You raise the rod the moment the fish bites the hook, but the timing depends very much on the balance between the size of the bait and the size of the fish. Ideally, you should attach bait that is small enough for the fish to eat in one bite, and raise the rod at the first bite. However, if the bait is too big, the hook won't fit into the fish's mouth and it won't hook on the first bite. Therefore, if the bait is too big, you can make it smaller by putting it in the water and pulling it up. That's why I sometimes make the motion of raising the rod. If my answer is insufficient, please ask again.

@TAKA_ojfc4 ай бұрын
I'm not sure because the hook size notation is different from Japan, but if you're catching a stickleback, it must be quite small. Japanese sticklebacks are about 5cm long. Amazing!

The hooks are a teeny tiny fly hook used to tie midges with and yo need a tiny wee piece of Weiner for bait,lol yes they are small but I was interested in the challange
@TAKA_ojfc4 ай бұрын
@@rogerfranz1152 I see, it's a fly hook. I looked up the size online. It's definitely a very small hook. The tip of a hook for tanago fishing is approximately one-fourth of the size of this No. 22 hook. If you have a chance, try smaller fishing.
