I showed this video to my Japanese friends (guy is from Tokyo and girl is from Amami) and they were so disgusted they almost shouted in public. I told them if someone ever makes egg fried rice for me just like this, I’m whipping out my leather belt and do what my parents did to me when I was a little kid. In fact, I would say the leather belt is the number one weapon for a Filipino parent to discipline their kids.

I don’t know about the UK, but in the US, almost all apartments and a lot of houses (really any rentals) aren’t allowed to use gas stoves. I’ve never been in an apartment that has a gas stove. I’m almost positive the only homes allowed to have gas stoves are houses and condos that are actually owned by the people living in them. Apparently landlord companies don’t trust us common peasants with gas stoves and it really blows. 😔

Induction burner actually heats the pan faster than gas. But only when the pan is in contact with the stovetop. Pick the wok up, it stops. It needs to use magnetism to work. That woman didn't have induction, she had just regular electric burners. I have an induction stove and I can't even see the burners heat up. Because they don't do what hers is doing there.

I have a theory that Kay probably listen to someone about fried rice recipe "...after the garlic turn brown, put the rice in..." something like that. I mean, in english the pre-cook and cooked rice are both called 'rice'. In my country, Indonesia, the pre-cook called beras and the cooked one called nasi. So i get that it might be a little confusing in english especially for someone who never cook a rice before.
