Thanks guys for all the detailed information on Japanese Vending machines. I used a lot of your location information with the machines when me and my girlfriend visited Japan this spring. We were able to find and try many of the items that you have reviewed in your vending machine videos. Some of our favorites included the jelly drinks, limited edition ice cream cones, and the pudding drinks were awesome!

Could watch this for hours and hours, didn't feel like 20 minutes more like 2 minutes. The variety is incredible, just awesome to watch. We do have here in switzerland just one type of vendingmachine all over the country, from one company all with the same products like some drinks and some snacks, really boring and insane expensive. Would love to do a "japanese vending machine survival" on my own one day:D I do love all your videos but this one was so unique, thanks a lot for sharing, hope you all are fine and I'm sending lovely greetings to you ^^

Omigod... 19:42 - that's "Ayam Brand" (literally "Chicken Brand") coconut milk. Big brand in Malaysia (sardines, chicken curry, etc. sold in cans). It's not something you would normally drink, people use it for cooking. Quite thick.

Those Glico ice-creams were a major thing here in Thailand a couple months ago, it was so big a hit that as soon as the employees refill them in the refrigerators, they're sold out-just like that! Some people had to wait in the queues in front of the fridges in vain, hahaha!

It's very interesting seeing how many different varieties of things you can get from vending machines in Japan. Here in Australia you usually get things like coke and other soft drinks/soda, chips/crisps. We don't usually get ice creams and stuff, there's also no way they would sell alcohol from a vending machine.

with the vending machines with beer do they ID you or is it based on a trust system? main reason I ask I know if there were vending machines that sold beer in America they'd be empty quicker than you could blink especially by people who are under age

I almost got fined for drinking a coffee on the MRT platform in Singapore! The guy was super nice though because clearly I wasn't a local. My sister (who lives there) later told me she forgot to mention that particular rule and that not all the officials are as forgiving on tourists. Mostly because there are signs warning you about it but I was a stupid tourist and just wasn't paying attention. Never been an issue on other subways/trains I've been on. Glad to see it's not the same rule in JP though!
Heading to Japan in two days, challenge accepted to eat our of vending machines for a day! Incredible.

Interesting that he said that it's OK to drink and eat on trains in Japan. I was on a small local train in Japan once, it was only about five or six carriages. I was the only white person on board, I was drinking a soft drink and an announcement came over the loud speaker in English saying "For the comfort of other passengers please refrain from drinking or eating on this train". This was the only English announcement, I was the only person drinking and I was the only person who appeared to be a native English speaker. I waited until I exited the train before finishing my drink.
