Love your videos keep them coming! How about a visit to Mount Kinabalu Reserve in East Malaysia (state of Sabah on the Borneo island)? Must be heaps of native Paphiopaedilums there.

You are just like kurt bell of abandoned Japan , he searched Japan abandoned , you searched wild orchids bother had its own characteristics, thank for the video

Ha, Ha! It is funny you mention him since he is the guy who basically inspired me to buy a video camera and start filming Japan back in 2012. His videos really capture "the real Japan".

botanyboy1 yes , it is , why I like to see people going into the wild, cos I am from the native of Malaysia used to live in the forest when I am a teenage years and parent still alive and done forest farming, I loved forest farming , you can hear animals calling to each other and birds and see wild flowers, now I stayed in the city and my mind always lingering in the forest, Goh Bomba is my husband and he is a fireman officer and a Chinese , I am a native of Malaysia , that is blessing and thank for your freedom spirit keep up the good activities, God blesses you

Thanks so much for sharing your personal story. I too grew up in a forest - but in New York state! Like you, I think of it often, of the birds and all those trees overhead. Now I live on the edge of the "urban jungle", in a town surrounded by forested hills, so at least I can escape up them from time to time. Thank you for watching and commenting!

only search? you hunt them?
@botanyboy19 жыл бұрын
First I search for them, then I hunt them with my camera(s). Seriously though, it is a bit like hunting since you have to know the habits of each species to find them, especially the rare ones. Other times you stumble on them unexpected...

thank you for your video can you send us to this seeds or plant
@botanyboy17 жыл бұрын
I'm glad you liked the video. Unfortunately legally sending plants, or even seeds, out of Japan is difficult, especially orchids. They are covered under the international treaty called CITES and special documentation is needed. Seeds are easier, but still require inspection at the customs office, both in Japan and the receiving country. So, I am sorry to say I cannot send or receive plants. Tom

I recently bought an unnamed Calanthe hybrid with yellow petals and a white lip. Do you know what hybrid this could be? I'm thinking it could be a Takane hybrid? Two pictures (unfortunately slugs have chewed on the leaves and flower spikes): imgur.com/a/mkZQm4o

Nice looking flower. I'd guess it is more a Satsuma hybrid. That is the combination of discolor, sieboldii (striata) and aristulifera.

Another excellent video and sorry it took me so long to find it (I've subscribed). Have you any time to watch for pollinators of Calanthe? Which insects visit both species causing hybridization? Why does interspecific isolation break down in this area? Look at the following link... opensample.info/which-food-mimic-floral-traits-and-environmental-factors-influence-fecundity-in-a-rare-orchid-calanthe-yaoshanensis
