CLUB VOLCANES was the name of my Mexican high school team that participated in the big state championships of ‘92. I finished equal = 4 blk losses, 4 wht wins. In all my white games I played ColleZuk it ended up becoming my beloved weapon for many years. Of course it’s all memory now… fell in lov, got married, chess took a back seat. Memory… but oh what a memory ❤

You mentioned "in the last video" @1.23 but this is part one. What video are you referring to?

I cut out the “first part” because it was rare lines and wanted to go into real stuff. Also the audio was messed up so I couldn’t upload it. Maybe we should do it over :)

Stupid question, but if he hadn’t resigned in first game what would have been the mate move?
@chinmayaprakash
@chinmayaprakash Жыл бұрын
Reference timestamp 16:19. At this point, it is not quite a mate yet but black stands to lose a lot of material. The problem is that black king is trapped by its own pieces. Rg8 would result in checkmate with Rxh7#. If instead, it tries to run away along the last rank, there is not enough time. For example, Kg8 Rxh7 Rd8 g6 Kf8 Rh8 Kg7 Qh6#. No matter what black plays after Rh6, Rxh7 is coming which will pin f7 pawn to the black queen paralysing its defence. Moving that pawn can result in a quick checkmate with f6 exf6 Qf7 Bxh7 Qxh7 g6 Qxh6 Qxh6+ Kg8 Qh7#. There are ways to continue after Rh6 but not without sacrificing multiple pieces. If black plays passively, white queen and rook will join forces along the h file to checkmate the black king. Black has limited counter-play. The position is completely losing. And your question was not stupid by any stretch.

In the first game, couldn’t the king have just moved to G8… that wouldn’t be checkmate.

After Rxh7 followed by g6, it's lights out for Black.
