Japji Sahib | Daler Mehndi | Nitnem | Most Beautiful Japji Shahib Ever | DRecords Gurbani

Japji Sahib, is Guru Nanak Patshah jis proclamation of ONENESS. It is an order for every JEE (being) to JAP (to be in remembrance).
The opening verse and bani of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, Japji Sahib embodies the entire essence of being human and leading a spiritually ascending life. Daler Mehndi took 5 years to study the Bani and then recorded it.
Rabab played by Khan under the direction of Daler Mehndi opens the track. The 38 Pauris are sung mellifluously to precision of Indian classical ragas weaving a brilliant beautiful melodic tapestry of notes touching 31 ragas, Daler Mehndi extempore rendition is heartwarming and soothing to the ears and heart on the backdrop of Vatican church organ chords played by late Hemant Sharma.

The English translation is very good given that the Guru himself says “no words can describe him and there are thousands of descriptions” and hence translations.

You are wrong translation means communication of the meaning of a source-language text by means of an equivalent target-language text. Description is closest synonyms characterization or definitions. He is correct if he said translation is weak because the proper words for description were not used.

@@jujharsingh4458 yes, but who is to say what is a proper phrase to use in English. One cannot just go translating word by word following some dictionary. It is indeed still left to lot of interpretation. Moreover, we all know how old hindi movies used to be closed captioned but word to word translation and they sounded ridiculous. I just felt that the translation was actually incredibly good, and yet people are complaining. Now, I admit that ekonkar may-not be best described as “God” and further the translation was using male gender for “God”…so there can be lots of issues here.

Had I not seen on the cover ,that a church organ is being used as background music , I would have thought of it as a harmonium .
