Jaque Fourie is a former Springbok, a Rugby World Cup winner, and one of South Africa's top try scorers. His amazing career has taken him all over the world and along the way he's picked up more than a few unforgettable stories. Everyone remembers that infamous try against the British Lions, but did you know that he did it with one eye? Or what about the time he flew to Japan only to be turned around the airport and forced to fly back home? And then there's the text messages between him and big Bakkies Botha about their fond memories of Kamp Staaldraad...

Jaque Fourie was that silent killer on the field, but hard as nails, with creative and intelligent directness. IMHO one the greatest modern centers and the epitomy of a Bok center. It was always an immense pleasure to watch. That try against the Lions defines him in every way! We salute you as a true Springbok great!

I'm from Ireland and I was 18 when that match happened. I was at soccer practice and I missed the first half, got home for the second. I was eating a bacon sandwich when Jaque ran over O'Gara and put it down in the corner. I wasn't even mad tbh. It was an amazing try. Not gonna lie the only reason I support the Lions is because Irish players play for them, I don't really care if they lose. Boks are definitely my second favourite team after Ireland.
