Because the steamid can be traced back to other data about the user, any publishing of the ID would be a direct violation on UK GDPR (British version) and GDPR (European version). LFM can use it to ban users on their platform, but publishing the ID's would mean the service being shutdown by ICO.

Of course I like racing and did it for my enjoyment, however for me personally the most enjoying part of simracing is trying to compete on the highest level. One of the main reasons I stopped is the cheating saga. The one guy that was cheating in SRO made me question the entire competition and that just completely demotivated me. (Not to mention that the guy who cheated confirmed that there were others on the highest level doing it too if I recall correctly)

It's always been clear for ACC that there was cheaters. There was too many 1% racers that were insane speed compared to all the other sims i've played and league raced in, ACC must have magically gotten the cream of the crop for the game because all the leagues have way too many 'aliens'. There is no way i can prove it ofcourse but if you have been simracing competitively for over decade you catch wind of these things fairly quickly. And this is obviously because of all simracing devs not caring about anticheat. It is even worse knowing a lot of this competitions in ACC had prizepools at the end of them. 0.2% grip or power won't be noticed by 99% of people and it is way too accesible for some people to not do it.

What if like at least few people at LFM Pro would be cheating, but they using it to gain like 0,2s per lap and they are good at hiding it? That is the issue. How can we be sure if someone is cheating or not, not including very obvious ridiculous things?

You can't be sure. The fastest 0,1% of players are going to be your best anti-cheat - if they find it really sus, it probably is cheats or atleast bug abuse.

That racing leagues requiring a face cam.. yeah.. it can have serious repercussions if you're caught cheating: Daniel Abt lost his Formula E seat when during the pandemic, they hosted simraces with all the Formula E drivers and he was caught cheating...

I have been gaming at least 30 years Unreal Tournament used to be my go to game and I have never cheated once in my life on a game especially online games I could put cheats in all my games and get away with it but I find cheats to be by a lower life form almost like a big pile of shit 😂 so if I can go 30 years without cheating then why can’t anyone else cheating means you have no skill at all 😂😂 and a lot of Russians I have noticed cheating a lot lately 👍👍👍👍

When I was admin for a Norwegian community, we had ban-lists so other community could download and ban the cheaters right away. We had tight cooperation's with all bigger communities.

It is a never-ending evil... it happens in ACC, it happens in other games and sadly it is an almost impossible struggle like telling the thief not to steal again... and this bad practice is killing the games, because not even the consoles Save, cheats already exist on consoles. Hopefully one day soon we will see a solution to this.

The thing is: The deeper you dive into the whole cheating issue, the more you realise how nontrivial counter measures are. Cheating happens on so many levels, be it input controls manipulation (to achieve features like TC where it isn't allowed), tampering game files or manipulating the memory data. To everything and everyone outside the cheater's computer it's a black box and all they can detect are the symptoms, not the causes. So, every one who plays WRC 23 knows how drastic anticheat has to be to work properly: It needs to work with kernel privileges, and people hate EA for that. Because here's another problems: Us gamers. We all yell "We want anticheat", but the least of us are willing to live with its consequences. I don't feel too well with game software running on kernel level either, but the more you think about it the more you get to the conclusion there's not really a way around that. Good for me: I don't play ACC competitively by any means - read: I'm too slow - and so far, cheaters have been way less of a problem to me than rammers and wreckers.

Hey mate I don't know much about this. But what's kernel privileges? Is it something allowing the anticheat to go deep into your PC to check if there are cheat mods and so on?

@@florianlacroix1832 simply put, programs running with kernel privileges have the highest access level to your computer. This is (obviously) necessary to detect any manipulation but also a threat in case this software gets compromised and acts malicious.

I think cheaters tend to be younger and want to treat ACC like an arcade racer. Others like data mining and testing. The problem happens when you are on a dedicated competition server and they bring their hot mess over.

@Jardier cheating isn't about winning, it's about not wanting to lose. It comes from a person having low self esteem and low self worth. Think about it, we say "work harder, improve your skills", but they think "I can't win, the game isn't fair". Why would someone put hard work into improving themselves if they think that they are worthless?

There are many motives for it. Biggest motive is money. People use cheats to boost accounts, which they will sell later on. Then there is the motive you mentioned. One of the least known motives is government pr/propaganda. I know that China and Russia have both had state organized esports teams, which were utilizing custom cheats to win competitors. Funny thing was that they were actually so bad that some times they managed to lose even with aimbot and wh or with sophisticated macros in League of Legends.

The message is very clear and simple to me. DON'T waste your money with Companies Like KUNOS on games and DLC's if they are not prepared to do something about it. Relying on people to report cheating is NOT the way forward. The whole point of Sim Racing on a competitive level, is to have a level fair playing field. If this can't be obtained by the game makers, then don't waste your money with them. They are quick enough to take your money, and don't seem to care about combating the issue with an anti cheat system implemented in the game. This is such a shame to see this now in PC sim racing on a regular basis, but not really surprised if greedy game makers aren't prepared to do anything about it. When the Fun stops 🚫 STOP !! I play on PC and Console. These cheaters only seem to be on PC though. 🙄 Just my opinion. 🙄👍

Didn't AC1 have an anti-cheat where if you changed important files you'd get a mismatch and kicked from the server. Shouldn't be too hard to impliment that in ACC right ?

It had the mismatch system primarily due to modded content. You can still cheat in the original Assetto Corsa because most cheats intercept the game's code in RAM and they change the grip and power values there for example.

i mean, LFM have prizes. Their competition still have prizes, so there's a reason for people to cheat. For example: the Caseking Pro Series have great prizes like 1 coupon worth 2500 euros to spend in Asetek Hardwares. 1 coupon worth 1500 euros for moza racing hardwares and as third price a gaming computer worth around a thousand. Vile people like them know no fairness, no honor, no nothing. They are vile worm, so they would try to steal these prizes without being worthy of them and without gaining them. Yes, i said steal, because winning like that means stealing from the true winner that deserves these prizes. But even low level races has prizes, so...yeah. People are scum. Competitive racing, and in general every competitive E-sports should have very strong anti-cheat and clear system to detect with low or no doubt who cheat. People train hard, really hard. People use much of their time, for many is literally their work. We should respect people like them, guarantee them something that protects their job.

Cheating doesn't make any sense, I mean there's nothing like being a tenth faster o winning your first race after a lot of practice or struggle. It destroys games. Counter Strike 2 was supposed to move their esports to the internal ingame ladder but it is impossible as only cheaters are on the top. Also it destroys the credibility of all the big events that are pulling an audience and it is worse than doping. Doping makes sports easier but still you need to invest your whole life to win, cheating in games you can do with zero skill. It is a blight on all forms of gaming and it should become illegal.

I really hope ACC does not try to address that problem via anti-cheat software, it creates problems for everyone and does not solve the issue. Tarkov is a great example of a game that penalised casual players without solving the issue of cheating. Now ACC could at least delete obviously absurd lap records (for events) and maybe provide lap time history (if someone suddenly becomes 10% faster, then there is an issue). Otherwise, just let LFM stewards do their jobs. I am really not convinced that someone who played for months/years, which takes some serious dedication and a certain mentality, will suddenly decide to use cheats to gain an extra 1% grip (unless there is some prize money or serious fame involved) so cheaters are often obvious. Unlike Tarkov, where luck plays a role so it is difficult to figure out if a headshot was luck or skills, luck does not play a big role in simracing so you usually can tell if someone is good or if they have an unfair advantage. I also disagree with your statement about iRacing. If anything, the subscription model means iRacing do not have any incentive to ban cheaters unless it is obvious and we have seen it with the wide spread use of exploits, which ruins the game even more since it is not as black and white as cheating but still breaks immersions for everyone. In the end, winning by cheating is still losing, as you said, and losing to a cheater is nothing to be ashamed of.

Cheaters ruined COD World at War on the XBox. I enjoyed that one cos the weapons were primitive enough that I could drop in just occasionally and still be competitive(ish). But there came a time when people were literally flying around and walking through walls and it just got absolutely stupid! I hate cheaters! The only exception I rarely make is if I'm in a single-player game that doesn't affect anyone else, and I've already played the game through once before.... if I replay the game and I get stuck on a part that's starting to make me angry because I can't get beyond it this time, then for the sake of my own temper and sanilty I would use a trainer just to get past the moment. Not always though, I will try it about 10-15 times first but if I'm otherwise going to rage quit or be pissed off, I'd rather get past it with a trainer, then play as normal. But only on single-player where no-one else is affected but me. Never ever ever on multiplay.

Definitely cheating is bad behavior, The important question for me, apart from driving skills which is a personal, having a very different setup that is not even available for sale to the public (which are known as hack setups) or having a different simulator tool with software with more features between two driver that with one car on the same track, it can also be considered cheating because the race is conducted in an unfair mode. There can be no objection regarding the simulator tool, but regarding the setup, the game should be moved to a direction where all the cars have a fixed setup for every one so that the ability of two drivers is close to fair.

Im relatively new to sim racing and have started driving in the public lobbies on ACC in the last 2-3 weeks. I know theres hardware and skill differences but when i watch some of the replays and see some players are braking 50 - 100m past the last point i physically have to brake to make the corner, i cant help but wonder if they have some kind of assistance.

I remember being accused of cheating because I had some paid coaching, started using setups from CoachDave (not a shill - just sayin'), and had time to practise. Of course, my usual practice of wrapping the car around some kind of track obstacle was enough for the guys with whom I race regularly to know I was the same old idiot just with fewer bad habits and a good setup. However, the shouting, screaming, and cursing from others who joined the server but were not used to being overtaken cleanly and someone rope-a-doping them at corners was disgusting. The language used almost made me quit. Cheaters create suspicion everywhere, but the over-the-top reaction from entitled kidults is much worse. FYI to the Neanderthal who crashed into me on purpose because Steam showed I was running Driver Booster. IT IS NOT A RACING CHEAT - it keeps your Windows drivers up to date and disables unneeded services when gaming to improve FPS. I have disabled it showing up when I am in Steam, but FTG!

I myself don't like cheating as well. Here's a question though. When people were using the camber exploit was that cheating? Or, the TC0 exploit, is that cheating? I was told by a bunch of sim racers that it's the developers fault for not patching the game. In other words, not cheating if it can be done.

I'm a slow racer, and I don't have time to practice. But as you said, when I get on the server and join a race...... then I want to feel like it's real. Even though I quali mid field and lose places at the start. I gain a couple of them, and the thrill of being composed, racing, etc... that's why I play. I finish at the back of the field a lot, but so be it. That's my level, and I don't mind. I enjoyed battles and enjoyed doing what I could. I'm happy about it, it's an experience... It wouldn't be when I would install a hack or a cheat... it would take away all the fun

So sad. It's in every online multiplayer game. I stopped playing FPS games since it's now become so bad that there isn't a single lobby without at least one cheater. Sometimes 9 cheaters in a single lobby. (COD and CS) Absolutely nothing is being done to stop them, and the cheaters knows this which is why its gotten this bad. When legit players gets killed by cheaters all the time, its easy for them to start cheating too since "everyone" is doing it. So the problem only grows and grows. I bought a $5k sim rig to play racing games instead because I love cars and racing. It's been fun, but I only play singleplayer/career mode because either cheaters or shameful rammers who cant deal with being overtaken are ruining the game. Until we really start policing ourselves i'm staying away from online games. Companies don't want to spend money to fight cheaters, thats money out of their pockets and hurts their F*** profits. F*** your profits, let us start to police ourselves in some way without any pay for doing so, so it doesn't hurt your profits

Honestly im also think u Guys from esports are cheating lol doing things i cant copy and just dunno how! Got also called cheater in a Public Lobby but im not, im minimum .5 slower than u aliens😅 u just dont know if someone cheating or not(Sure 400kph u know), the Game need to solve the problem

When the cheat argument is on the line I always say : "Anti-cheat is, HOPEFULLY, not the solution". For 2 reasons: 1 usually anti-cheats affect games performance, and we all know Racing games are the most demanding games for our PCs. And 2, the most important, there are plenty of games with anti-cheats and there are plenty of cheaters anyway. PC gaming will be always affected by this problem, there is no solution. Console gaming is a bit more fair on this side (but there are cheaters also I know). So I just don't care, and on the contrary I had a lot of fun kicking cheaters asses. Not in ACC, where it is really difficult, but in other games like soccer, basket, tennis games where I reached pretty high level in the past. I kicked their ass and it was clear they were cheaters. They were the sweatest games of my life.

What’s scary are the people cheating to gain just 0.05% of grip or find a tenth or two. If you’re a good driver and then find a cheat and use it, you become almost unbeatable. It’s really put me off LFM ACC recently after Orlow got banned after I raced against that dude and worked my ass off to find where the time was. Ugh.

It’s wild this has been a topic for years now. Iv watched a lot of people whose cars are on rails and just assume I’m extra slow. But that little thought is always in my mind.

I simply enjoy racing. I’m fully aware that I will never be a professional. It has never crossed my mind to cheat-it would feel like lying to myself, and on top of that, I would ruin others' fun as well. However, cheaters are partly the reason why I don't even try to race online. :/

I just hope they don't go with any kernel-level-crap like easyanticheat, or something like that. It just inconveniences honest people, while cheaters just bypass that crap. Client-Side Anti-Cheats can not be the answer. There needs to be something server-side in place that eveluates of what people are doing is legitimately possible.

I admit since the cheating issue got out I had too many suspects and made wrong accusations (not in public but still) over legit very fast guys I found. It took me time and replay/telemetry study to acknowledge it was my "skill issue" haha, but yeah this situation is horrible. We can't trust anyone anymore

at first-great video jadier and thx 4 ur work. since the first video came out about acc and cheating, more and more cheater videos are popping up... where does this come from? why wasn't this spread to the masses earlier? Is this perhaps just a reason to leave acc without upsetting the community?

I totally agree. If people are cheating like that it just shows what sort of person they are, and its sad. Sim racing is all about the competition and that's why its so much fun. The people that cheat are very sad inside 😢😅.
