Jared Leto's Cringe Worthy Cult

Ever since a few videos came out about Jared Leto and his supposed cult, I became curious about what was really going on. Is Jared Leto really a cult leader? Is this all just a publicity stunt? Are fans of 30 Seconds to Mars really cult followers? And, most importantly, what is Mars Island?! Why are the tickets to Mars Island so expensive, and is it Fyre Festival #2? In this video I analyzed all of this to really take a look at Jared Leto's cult. What I was surprised to find was actually how cringey him and his following really are...

(So sorry about the sound difference in the beginning, had to quiet the video because of copyright) I promise it gets better after his vlog! Do you think this cult is making 30 Seconds to Mars fans look bad? Or is it a way to build a community with their die hard fans? Would love to know what you think!

Honestly, I don't like this Jared Leto. I used to like him as an actor, A Requiem For A Dream is one of my fave movies of all time, but he seems like he's insane now, like he's on the verge of breakdown. Doesn't look good at all.

Hey Madison, I've noticed that your last few videos are not getting enough views. Do you know what happened? When I discovered you, your videos were all over my homepage, but now I only see them in my subscription tab (I don't do notifications). I see it is not just me, but the algorithm isn't showing them to many people. I'm asking if you know what is going on because I think your videos are top quality and would love it if you actually succeed on yt, and I feel bad you are suddenly not getting views, especially because you mentioned you lost one of your sources of income :( stay safe, ly! 🎈

I think the scarier cult following is Kanye. And now he's planning to run for president. Jared Leto's stuff is wacked out, but doesn't hurt anyone. Just die-hard fans paying too much to go to concerts. But Kanye's platforms so far are frightening and would affect all of our lives. He has enough die-hard followers to really affect all of our lives.

Um are you aware that "white knight" was the code for emergency that Jim Jones used at Jonestown .. the famous cult leader that committed mass suicide-murder on his members in the 70's.... it gave me the chills when he said that because I know he ment to make the connection if he's acting like a cult leader and that's just sick because that was a huge tragedy and absolutely awful for the people and family members involved...

Okay, Jared Leto calling for a “white night,” around 21:30 really makes me uncomfortable. For those who don’t know, Jim Jones called for “White Nights” frequently at Jonestown, where the cult would rehearse how to flee, fight, or commit revolutionary suicide. Twice they rehearsed the suicide while being convinced it was the real thing. And then of course there was the final white night when over 900 folks, including children, drank the cyanide-laced fruit drink and died. I get that Jared is trying to portray his fans as a cult for some stupid reason, but if he was intentionally referencing the last days of Jonestown in order to do that, it’s an incredibly disgusting tactic. I may be missing some other reference since I don’t know his music, but if you are going to play around with the idea of a cult, you really have to be aware of this.

So I was a HUGE fan of 30 Seconds to Mars when they first came out. I went to shows at smaller venues before they got big and they stayed small for some time, mainly because Jared would not promote the band while doing his acting thing (and vice versa). It was very easy to meet them after shows and have a good chat. There was a joke in the earlier days saying "Yes, this is a cult", because it was so small and the fandom (the Echelon) was really connected online. It was essentially no different than a lot of other bands having nicknames for fans and street teams. Obviously, with most male bands, girls swoon over the guys. They've always had a significantly large female audience, and A LOT of middle aged women. When they started getting big, they began doing these little camps and it was clearly a way to get money out of the women who OBSESS over Jared and his brother Shannon. At this point, they stopped meeting fans after shows, they were just too big, so these retreats were essentially the only chance to meet them. I think they prey on that female obsession to connect with them. It honestly makes me think of comic cons too (would be a great video topic!) I really think it's one reason he hasn't ever acknowledged he's been in a longterm relationship for like six years. No one knows who she is really, and he acts single and very flirty with fans. I think Jared's ego fuels it all and it's a manipulative money-grab. To say fans can sleep in your tent, or you get some overtly intimate experience - it's predatory.

Yes but celebs are only are as big as their fans make them to be. The fans who are overwhelmingly female know what they are signing up for and spend thousands to do it. Nobody is making them follow him. Women who have money to spend on a celeb are not victims.

Plum… They’re not victims yet. Yet. An old friend was an entrepreneur & he had a strange obsession with trump. He signed up for trump “university” and he wasn’t a victim either. Until he became a victim. His savings account was drained & he had to join a class action to get pennies back. If Leto’s cult/grift processed, there will definitely be victims. Another example/parallel with Leto & trump is him buying the teen beauty pageant. The contestants & parents were thrilled that a big shot rich celeb showed up to save the pageant & score a tv deal. Then word spread that trump would walk from dressing room to dressing room peering in on the girls while they changed clothes. And suddenly there were victims. These dudes are sociopathic.

Im Flying I was being ironic. The point was that the Christian dogma spread the message that anything that is not christian is satanic. That involves other religions, belief systems, philosophies and ESPECIALLY pre-christian pagan beliefs. Jared has tattoos with symbols that are included in these different systems. Does that mean they are satanic? Not really. To Christianity even astrology is forbidden and considered satanic, because it is based on pagan belief systems. Maybe you should cultivate yourself and read some actual books on history of religions and civilization. I warn you though- it will burst your little bubble.
@mgdkns6678
@mgdkns6678 4 жыл бұрын
Im Flying I understand, but by naming those so called symbols satanic you seemed to not really know what they are about. Pagan or occult sciences are not satanic in the sense that they don’t worship Satan , but christianity names them so because they don’t worship their god, which is Jehovah. In the book of Job it is implied that God and satan actually communicate and “collaborate” almost in a bet-like way. Satan means adversary in literal translation, not “evil” necessarily. You said Jared has demons with him lol. That sounded pretty much like christian brainwash to me. Anyways ,religion is too huge of a discussion to have here. Glad you are open and try to judge for yourself different teachings and philosophies. 😊

I cried at my wedding (along with my husband, my mother and my sister). I've seen several people cry at their or their loved ones' weddings. I saw a beloved, working-class figure in my community cry when receiving an award as recognition of her devotion and hard work. I've seen my mom cry when I was a small child and would give her homemade gifts. Sometimes I cry just our of a feeling of fulfillment (usually wrt my marriage). Of course all sorts of people process emotion differently, but it's interesting to me to hear that this isn't a part, even just a tiny part, of some other people's lives.

I kinda fell down a rabbit hole about the Manson family, and let me tell you, it's making me look at this cult in a reeeally creepy light. The use of the word family, the abundance of young free spirited women and the occasional hippie bro, the isolated "we know the secrets" mentality - they're all looking mighty familiar. I don't want them exploiting their fans for money, but if that's the only thing Leto and co. are after, there's at least a shred of comfort in that.

Laughing can happen when a person is really stressed out and overwhelmed. It can also be a response to feeling uncomfortable and awkward, especially women who have been taught that showing anger is unacceptable can react with smiling and laughter in situations where they feel cornered/threatened or uncomfortable. Laughing can happen after serious sexual assault or other traumas and then it’s the body’s way of trying to calm itself down. And of course you can cry because something good has happened. Then there can be things like relief, gratitude, feeling moved etc mixed in.

Really?! I’ve met him in 2006 when the band wasn’t very well known in Germany yet and Jared was super nice. The whole band was signing autographs after the show until everyone that wanted an autograph had one (it was a show with 2500 people) and Jared was super friendly and asked me if I enjoyed the show and thanked me for coming. Fast forward to 2010 and going to another show & meeting his brother after the show... asked him if he could take a picture with me since I was having surgery the next day and it would lift my spirits (he had a “no photos only autographs” policy at that point) and he actually accused me of lying about having surgery to get a “sympathy photo”. I was so pissed and shocked. I had never been treated this badly by any musician and I’ve met lots (Slash & Dave Grohl being some of the super famous ones) My friends who were at the show with me even told him I wasn’t lying about the surgery, but he didn’t care. Needless to say I stopped being a fan of the band that night. I just couldn’t support a band that would treat people so badly.

Thirty Seconds to Mars will always have a place in my heart, their music got me through a few really rough years, and "Yes, this is a cult" was a sort of in-joke in the fandom. I went to their concert in 2014 (shortly before my 14th birthday)... someone from 30STM's team came up to me with an offer to do some face paintings for fans. I did it and in exchange I got an upgraded ticket to be on the stage with the band during the whole concert. I stood next to Tomo (now a former member of the band) and I must say he was actually so nice. He talked to us all the time (during breaks between songs). To me, it was one of the best experiences and I will be forever thankful for it. I understand that business is a business (the band made a really good documentary called Artifact where they explain how the music industry works). HOWEVER, I feel like the money aspect really distanced me and not only me from the band. They are simply overpriced for not too much. The price of the ticket for their show is fine, but the show really lacks its former quality (look at the reviews). Now it all seems like "you want us? Pay couple thousand dollars, otherwise we won't even talk to you". Such a pity. Btw. I wonder if this new money attitude had anything to do with Tomo leaving the band.

Of course as someone who has fans you should (please) respect the people spending their money on you. But in Kpop it's a "little" bit more than just respect. Some fans think they own the person and that's so sad. The Kpop Group Members get mobbed in airports and some of them get major backlash for getting married and so on. Really sad cuz this people just try to give the fans relatable and good music. I think both side have to be respectful. He doesn’t take drugs at all, he lives a very clean life and I’ve been to numerous 30 seconds to Mars concerts and they were amazing, full of energy no weird things going on but guess we all have different experiences

erica Nicole - yeah, I’ve been to two of their concerts and it was like any other concert I’ve ever been to. Nothing like the OP’s. So I’m confused. Lol.

J N I hate to be accusatory, I don’t even listen to this band nor am I invested in Jared Leto at all, but OP could easily be lying?

@@xhappyponyxwasmyoldname1395 I wish I were lying. I was a huge 30stm fan back in the day. When my sister told me she had bought tickets, I started sobbing over the phone. Whenever I saw them live, though... I kinda got annoyed about how Leto was acting on stage, but it was my first concert that wasn't TSO or a Christian festival (oof) so I assumed all musicians were completely different live. Then he decided to call us jackasses whenever I was literally in pain from being so cold. I had never been that angry before. 30stm was one of the first bands my sister and I bonded over and we were both crushed by the way he reacted to us leaving before the last song in the set. If it hadn't have been for that experience, I'd probably still be listening to 30stm everyday, but I haven't listened to them ever since. I also didn't go to another concert for years after that bc I expected all artists would be major d*cks the entire time and I didn't want to shell out copious amounts of money to experience that. The only good memories I got from that concert was spending time with my sister who was currently in college, and having my 10th grade English teacher saying "holy shit, he said that to you guys?!" Whenever I told him about it at the end of the school year. He also said the concert sucked and he was pissed off that Leto was basically just saying "reach for the sky" the entire time

I feel like that will be the new trend with the celebrities. First, every celebrity having a podcast. Next trend, every celebrity starting their own Fryefest experience.

did he just say white night when he was talking to his fans? as in what Jim jones would say over the loudspeaker to gather everyone for his rehearsals? I know he's actively trying to make this seem as much like a cult as possible but could he leave out the references to mass su*cide maybe?

I was searching a Ted-Ed video about cults and this videos after the Jim Jones DEATH TAPE. I was really confused as of why until I heard the “white night” thing
