I moved to SW FL from Michigan in August 2019. I've gone home to Michigan every Christmas (really every 6 months). This will be the first year that I am not going home for Christmas and it's hard. I don't have a spouse/significant other, kids, siblings, etc. The only family I have close by is an aunt who has two boys an hour and a half north of me. I'll be spending Christmas with her and the boys, but that's it for the first time ever. No parents (mom in Micigan) or grandparents (all deceased) to celebrate with this year. It's going to be a different Christmas for sure. Even just the weather feels different than a Michigan Christmas. The good news is that the reason I'm not going home is because my mom is coming down on Friday because we leave for a 7-day cruise on Saturday. So we'll still get to be together, but with our family only being her and I, other than my aunt and cousins here, it's hard to be away from my momma! Yes, I'm 35 but I've never spent a Christmas (Eve and/or Day) without her. Please be praying for her though. She was hospitalized last week for a severe cellulitis infection. Her follow up is on Monday. As of now, she is on antibiotics and will be cleared to go, but if it ends up not being the correct antibiotic and needs further treatment, they may not allow her to go. That alone would be devastating to me as being with her on the cruise is the only reason I wasn't stressed about missing Christmas with her. I can't get home before March, if not June, so if I can't see her now, this will be the longest we'll ever be apart. Growing up is hard this year. 😭

First and foremost before I mention anything else, but, congrats to Madi for getting married next year (2025) in Jan! Also, I realize this is a family friendly channel and hopefully I don’t get too personal here and hopefully it’s watered down enough, but, should I be taking things personally if I still don’t have a partner yet/significant other?
