Happy 9th Anniversary to BTS! After a much needed vacation in the beautiful country of Colombia, WE ARE BACK and ready to bless our ears with more BTS.
Today, we decided to check out “Run BTS,” one of three new songs on their recently released anthology album, PROOF. We thoroughly enjoyed it and attempted to do our usual deep analysis, despite not yet having access to a music video, dance practice, live performance, etc.

Jimin said in a spotify interview that the ending "run beautiful" was made for army's. i interpret this as them telling us to run with them, and join them for the next chapter of their lives. where we will, together, accomplish many greater things and experience this beautiful journey together 💜

Jin's vocals is so crazy here.. those adlibs the "run" that sounds like a motorcycle, hahaha we can really count on Hobi (j-hope) to make a word that sound like something, he's the human sound effect like you know those YT videos with titles "What if you have bgm/sound effects in your life?" that's j-hope He also done that (making sounds like motorcycle) in one of their songs and the song is included in this album (CD1)

yes i was thinking of blue and grey too. Jared and Jordan, see if you can find the interview where Taehyung (V) talks about what he was going through when he wrote Blue and Grey: he was feeling overworkd and depressed and the song is NOT a simple 'cheer up' song, but more (he says) of one that gets on the floor with you when you're down and says, yeah it's hard. i've been there. deep empathy. BTS is not just a polished perfect choreo group when you get deeper into army; they're very vulnerable and raw. Vlives (livestreams) and so much content lets you get to know them from many perspectives. ALso they came close to disbanding at one point several years ago and they cried during an award show as they talked about it from the stage.

btw BTS are taking a little break to focus more on themselves, their feelings and they about to work individually as artists so they'll releasing solo albums soon and come back much stronger later. this break also shows that bts values their music and artistry above everything else. the moment they started to lose sight of what their music really means, they’ve decided to take a step back and find their meaning again and that’s fucking admirable. the respect and love they have towards music is so just so immaculate. “We’ve lost our direction and I just want to take some time to think”. The sincerity you need to say something so raw and real. they've been giving constantly back to back to satisfy us, armys and the industry, im so glad that they're taking a break to develop their thoughts, takes on music and as well as themselves i broke down when i saw rm cried, like they all are asking/hoping us to understand this little break as a healthy plan. they don't want us (armys) to be disappointed over this break. my heart hurts, i love how sincere they were with their feelings. we would support them no matter what, be it solo albums, group etc ill walk until the end with them. i hope and want them to know that we would never ever be disappointed over them putting themselves anytime, they've always prioritized us(armys) and the industry to satisfy, they've done enough. its time for us to pat their backs and stay right by their side and support them ! on a bright side, we are getting 7 new albums, hobi will be performing at the lollalooza music festival (chicago) as a first korean headliner artist, his solo concert which is one hour, that means his first mixtape is approximately 36 minutes.. so he'll be performing his new album yayy. In the first verse, trainees all lived together, and when the phone rang it meant someone was being let go. They actually lived with a bunch of guys and they would get chopped down until it was just the 7. Very emotional when the phone rang. RM keeps them together, they rely on each other. Once RM found JK crying because his Hyungs were going through so much. JK was young and protected by them. RM was so moved he just loved on him. RM's verse reminds me of "Dope" mv. They are all dressed in different work clothes and let you know that while you're out clubbing they are working hard. Watch it.

With your question of "Do they ever run out of gas?", this is when I thought that the documentary series named "Rise of Bangtan" would be perfect for you. That documentary beautifully captured not only their achievements but also every behind the scenes of it, hardships as a group, hardships as an individual, their different personalities and how they work with it as a group, and their journey that literally started from the bottom. In an another video, the editor/mastermind of this series said that the goal of that documentary was I quote, "to help those who knew very little to nothing think just a little more about their lives and how they interact with the world and the cultures within it." She also added that the documentary series specifically catered to people/reactors who knew little to nothing about this wonderful group. I hope that this documentary is on your list to react on to, and with a selfish request of reacting to it as soon as possible 😙, as I always loved how you do a reaction to them! 💜

The way they reference their “feet” being the “gasoline” and purposefully making the “run” in “run bulletproof” sound like a revving engine is so clever. Because both are part of THEM. They don’t need anything other than themselves to run forward. Also, I personally think that “make it move left and right” is a clear imagery of running… literally. So, hypothetically speaking in Jk’s verse they may be inferring that : We keep fascinating people as we run forward in our journey.

Oh man, watching your reaction today just hits different… you guys saying how you’re curious about the times the boys run out of gasoline etc. Festa Dinner this year was just raw honesty and you could see the toll the years have taken on the boys, especially the last two years. I personally am so so grateful for their honesty and openness and the way they chose to let us know they’ll be concentrating more on solo work and rest for a while. It felt very intimate, just them opening up to ARMY. They’ll be back stronger and healthier one day and in the meanwhile they’ll bless us with some new solo material (such as solo albums, which each of them have in the works). As for you guys, loved your reaction as always. As it happens, Jimin’s and J-Hope’s parts are my favourite parts as well :) Keep up the good work! In my opinion the lyrics "If we live fast, let us die young" isn't about dying an early death - but rather staying (ie: dying) young at heart. Staying young at heart is something they have sung about before a few times, most notably in "Young Forever." For me, Proof is for people who want a crash-course overview of BTS and their work, but the new songs are about them looking back on their career, their fans, and their vision for the future. 'Run BTS' is about their past, 'For Youth' is how they feel about ARMY, and 'Yet to Come' is a reflection of how they feel right now and their plans going forward.

just wanna let yall know since youre very new. 1st rule in becoming a army DO NOT TRUST MEDIA especially English and Korean media when they discuss bts. so bts released their yearly dinner they post the last day of festa usually and armys knew that. we just never know what will be discussed. they usually have somewhat of a idea or plan to speak about many topics so all 7 arent talking over eachother as they do in their live streams which get very chaotic. this time though their was no plan they ate and drank alcohol and then told us they were taking a break from releasing GROUP MUSIC. not breaking up not going on a hiatus not anything like that. theyre still doing group activities like their show run bts. and all 7 members will be releasing solo albums instead of just mixtapes. now their was a mistranslation on the video in the English subtitles it said hiatus and that caused confusion at first but then armys understood and were emotional not because of the break but because of the members breaking down about how they felt why they needed the break as well as the members fears of army being upset at them. thats why armys cried and got emotional because we hated that they thought we wouldn't understand. now excuse my language but the fucking media decided to take parts of what they said out of context and plaster everywhere rumors and saying theyre disbanding or on a hiatus etc 3 of the members had to post on social media as well as their ceo had to send emails out to their label staff to reassure theyre not losing jobs because bts isnt breaking up. 2 members spoke on live stream and RM wrote a long letter to armys and he was pissed at the media but they all clarified that theyre taking a break from group music only not the group itself and theyll be back after the last member releases his solo album. jhope starts them off next month. just wanted to explain this so youre not confused. always ask armys for information or clarification on anything bts never trust any media outlet cause every single one is a snake. some would be hit or miss but most are miss. sorry for the long comment. please react to bts hardships 2013 - 2021 by Xceleste and how bts paved the way by bbygangmag

Once RM said: "You guys are the proof of our existence, our value, our breath, our love, our peace for everything, you guys are our goddamn proof! So, we were the bullet and you guys were our proof. So, we're now truly bulletproof." - RM on PERMISSION TO DANCE On Stage (until the news of the new album) Proof this is an anthology album. The content of the album literally yells in our ear about their past. And of course the song and video will be about the same... if you listen to the lyrics of “yet to come” you will understand what the album is about. (in fact, I’m sure that when you watch the MV , you won’t understand anything! because literally every second in the video is a reference to past works, I counted 20 songs 😂 (which is interesting considering that BTS “proof” is their 20th album)). The instrumental style of the song "yet to come" is reminiscent of their cult era RUN and era HYYH[ the most beautiful moment in life]. And given that this era was the era in which they began to be recognized (according to the guys), it came out deep and intimate. Feels like a letter with a promise to yourself (something like a promise that this is not the end of their career). What kind of song is it and should be ... soft, hearty, sad, but with a touch of affection. Now that the album is out, I feel sad. as if they are saying goodbye to us for a while (my suspicion/thought/theory is that they prepare us mentally for their duty in the army like any Korean guy (although this is a very controversial and complex topic, (because they have done a lot for South Korea as a country in the spread of Hallyu. there is a 50/50 chance that they will be released from military service, they will serve only 3-4 weeks) that lasts a year and 8 months). They keep mentioning that they're coming back that they're finishing chapter 1 and starting chapter 2 and they're a little scared to get into it. Jimin said: I think we've been fine all this time. And Yet To Come is a comma, not a dot in our journey. I would like to say that we will grow up again and come back again. After jimin's words, I remembered the last episode of the show “run bts”. They stopped filming it. In the last episode, they said that the delvute pause "is a comma, not a full stop." And now there are no new episodes of “run bts” for a year ...

This is so random but I guess I wanted to share since I’ve seen people share here. I hope that’s okay. I’ve been an army for almost 4 years now, and it’s been one of the best things things thats ever happened to me honestly. I grew up in the Middle East in a girls school for most of my early teens and everyone there was amazing in short it was such a healthy environment. But then I moved and everything changed. The co-ed school was nothing like my previous school, girls were competitive but not for grades rather for looks, weight, body and waist sizes, boys, and so much more. Growing up I never cared about how I looked or what others thought of me as long as I was happy, but I was made aware, that if I didn’t have the ideal looks or the attitude then I wasn’t cool enough to be included and as a new student I felt super shunned and uncomfortable. I soon was trying to control my eating enough to loose weight even tho I didn’t have to, I started hating my body and myself. I couldn’t even get to look at myself in the mirror for a whole year. I stoped listening and caring about the things I liked instead I only followed what I was told was “cool”. My now best friend was into bts and I remembered she got made fun of for liking them and I remembered shaking my head along with all the rude comments these people passed just so I could feel included . And I think a year after all that I was at my lowest failing my exams, my mental health had hit rock bottom, my mom wouldn’t understand me or even try to, that’s when I came across Bts again. I heard their music and liked few songs, I was so ashamed of myself for not bothering to even look them up before blindly nodding along stupid stuff, I remember watching a run bts funny moments vid and laughing after so long with my heart until I cried. I got into them slowly, I read their lyrics, I discovered their love yourself message. And as cringey as it my sound, they really did save me. I stopped forcing myself to eat less, i took a moment for myself and breathed in and out, they made me realize that my life is so much more than wanting to fit in with literal idiots. I had hopes and dreams I’ve always wanted to achieve & I had lost track of all that & they reminded me of what it means to have a dream & to wish to succeed. And just have a happier life with my own rules, to please my self and most importantly to be kind to myself 1st and foremost. I started dying my hair often, I gained lil more self confidence. I reallllllyyyy recommend you guys to listen to some of their lyric deep/comfort songs. Zero’Oclock (00:00), Love Myself, magic shop, 2!3! And now “for youth” Are so close to my heart that I can’t listen to them without shedding tears. I’m so glad to see more people give a chance to their music. I love your channel and how you dig deep for every thing and are genuinely interested. Much love

This is beautiful honestly. I'm glad BTS is helping a bunch of people realize that at the end of the day what matters most is self love and doing what makes you happy regardless of what other people do/say or whatever. Keep going! The self-love path isn't necessarily always easy, especially when other people will try to drag you down, but it's definitely worth it in the long run 🙋🏿‍♀️

Thank you for sharing your story. I have a similar one but from decades later in life. In the 6 years since becoming ARMY.. I faced my deep loneliness and sadness and identity as a failure having lost my dreams. Their music started me facing myself and forgiving,, accepting and dreaming again. I have sought out healthier friends and taken initiative and gone forward in my life.. I am always praying for BTS and precious ARMY.

I don’t know if you’re going to hear this comment but you mentioned Jimin’s voice and you’re right! Jimin’s voice is so special! Sometimes he seems like an angel and the next second he has a deep voice that makes you shiver. His talent is so impressive and I personally think he is one of the most interesting singers of our generation. I find that this video ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5m1koyFbbh_rqc ) illustrates very well the richness of Jimin’s voice. Otherwise, his solo Lie is also an incredible vocal performance. (sorry for my English, I am a French army that finds that your analyses are the most interesting, I learn things thanks to you while I am army for almost 5 years!)

They hit their lowest point in late 2017/early 2018 as they struggled with the increased pressure and spotlight and hate and criticisms that came with their exponential rise in fame and popularity that began with their first BBMA win in May 2017. It was so hard on them that they considered disbanding. Episode 19 in the Rise of Bangtan docu-series discusses this period of time in their career. "Outtro: Tear" was written during that time and in their live performance of this song, you can feel their raw emotions (their performance in Wembley is iconic). Some songs from the Map of the Soul series is a reflection of that period as well, such as, as you said, "Black Swan", also "Shadow" by Suga. "Ego" by J-hope summarizes how they finally coped with their fame. In addition to these songs, you get a glimpse of this period of time in their heartbreaking 2018 MAMA speech. They also talked about this in a TV show called You Quiz on the Block. RM also talked about the importance of being honest about their low points in a magazine interview (GQ/Vogue). My favorite piece related to this low period, though, is Suga's poem that he wrote for the group called "What a Relief", which he read to them in an episode of Run BTS. Of course, they faced other struggles throughout their career and you can learn about them in the Rise of Bangtan. How they get through them is simple: they have each other and they have ARMY.

Outro: Tear is actually a rap done by rm , suga, and jhope that was written when they were thinking about disbanding at one point. I love Jin’s Epiphany Demo. I am playing it several times a day as it is, as all his solo songs, beautiful and emotional. Very different from the original which is in itself brilliant. This one is raw unpolished yet his vocals are so fantastic and the emotion in his voice so touching. If this had made it to be recorded it would have been phenomenal. If you close your eyes and listen it will really touch your heart. Jin is the most underestimated of the vocalists usually having the least lines yet his solos have even grown men crying because of the emotion he can convey in his singing, His solo songs are always worth listening to even though his songs are quite different to the other soloists. As someone who has been a fan of BTS and an ARMY since 2013, I can tell that there's been a mixed reaction to them releasing the anthology album. but I personally feel grateful that they did and I totally understand why. I see the anthology album as a personal "guidebook" to BTS music and their journey over the years for people who have only recently stumbled upon their music and those who are just about to dive into their amazing world. I personally think that the content of the anthology album is specifically catalogued with different purposes. CD1 is for the world, a catalogue of their music with their title tracks which are sorted according to their release periods. starting with Born Singer as their number 0 (pre-debut days) CD2 is for themselves (BTS), a catalogue of the music they have personally chosen as appreciation for themselves CD3 is for ARMYs, with unreleased singles that they often talk about when they are doing their live broadcast to talk with us and they are giving them to us as their gift of gratitude BTS claimed that this album marks the closing of "Chapter 1" while their new tracks seem to imply that they are ready to face another phase of their lives and their music, and this track alone is their statement saying that they have gotten here by "running" (working as hard as they could) and they will keep on running in the future. I am honestly excited to witness their new journey going from here, wherever that journey may lead to.

In a earlier video [around the start of BTS’ Career] RM was invited to come onto a show called ‘4 things show’ , where he read hate comments- his most memorable words from that video were “I’ll prove it to you all.” - their anthology album is called ‘PROOF’, which made me think it’s his said ‘proof’ to those who doubted him and the group. PROOF is a album that’ll show the world their effort to becoming successful- and I absolutely love it. They found me during the transition towards the Love Yourself albums start- an area where I wasn’t really keen on being me, myself, I was really down and disappointed in myself for many things- but their music helped me and are still helping me. BTS is a seven Men crew at first and grew up together then formed a brotherhood. All the videos that I watched specially the ones where they got injury, emotional distressed and severely drain times showed that if one of them is down 2 to 3 BTS member will come to comfort, raise their positivity and energy through positive encouragement plus brotherhood love until that person is healed. You ask,”do they run out of gas”? In 2018 when they were really beginning to explode globally, they were really having a hard time with the pressure of it all. At an Asian Award show that same year where they literally were sweeping awards right and left, Jin spoke about them discussing disbanding. It was an extremely emotional acceptance speech beginning with JHope. They agreed to work through it together and continue on. My favorite album of BTS is the Wings album. It’s one of the most…grownup of their youth. It focused on the temptations of greed, the evils of the world, and accepting them. (Refer to Demian by Hermann Hesse for a deeper dive.) It only had one lead MV: Blood, Sweat, and Tears. It is considered one of their best music videos to date and the buildup to the release was insane. It was their first album where the members had their own individual solo songs and they teased them all through a handful of teaser trailers and they built up more lore to the Bangtan Universe (BU). Lots of emotional deep diving in this one, it is. My favorite songs off the album are Lie, First Love, Stigma, and Awake (which are all solo member songs). Love what you guys do! Personally I felt like they meant how people probably told them they were being too risky(“if we live fast”) with the topics they talked about, the style of music they did, and their look (not the typical kpop look and sound at the time) but that they didn’t care. they were still gonna go for it, run full speed talking about what they wanted to, regardless about what opinions people would have(hence possibly “dying young” in the Kpop scene.)

This song inspired me to get my first tattoo! The line "Run Beautiful Run" absolutely smacked me in the face with its power and motivation to always chase your dreams and goals and never apologize for it. People have criticized my level of ambition in the past to the point it was something I actively wanted to smother in myself. I'd already planned on getting tattoos eventually, but but hearing this line derailed my first tattoo idea's plans and just *woke me up*. I never want to settle, I always want to grow and learn. I jumped on this so glad you reacted to Run BTS! It's great! It's true they appear polished when performing but in the Vlives (where they talk directly to the fans) you can see the issues, they are as open as they can be regarding their journey. Jimin's Vlive where he talks about coming to the decision to keep going is very open. Also, you can check out their acceptance speech (last one of the night) at MAMA 2018 and that is pretty raw. It shocked me and made me cry the 1st time I watched it. Sometimes I re-watch it, as it reminds me how lucky we are to still have them and yeah, I still cry.

Honestly proof is everything we needed and more, because it brings the past and present of BTS together. Proof makes all of us remember the journey we went through with BTS, and how BTS change our live just as much as Army change BTS lives. i cant really say in my words just how much i am proud to be Army. P.S: i really enjoy your reactions to BTS's Music and work. I am thankful that you guys actually take your time to do research to know more about what went into the making of the songs or artist, so thank you so much.

my thoughts about the album is that it's a genius marketing move. Like big brain, GALACTIC brain move. BTS' contract with columbia records (north american label) just ended aka they're done with doing songs aimed mainly at an american audience, in english fully (i mean, for now at least, who knows what's to come). From that promotion period in the usa, they've gained so many fans, fans that are just now getting to know them (which is awesome!! all new ARMYs are welcomed!) but so many of them feel overwhelmed by the amount of music they have, the content, just everything. On top of that, there's ARMYs that have been around for a long time but dont own one single physical album bc well, they can't afford them, there's *so* many albums, it adds up. I think this album is dedicated to all those fans, to the newer ARMYs that want kinda like an intro album to BTS and to old ARMYs that just want to write down one single album in their wishlist, an album with as many song as possible (both old and new). This doesn't mean that only those fans get to enjoy it!! i just think it's aimed to those 2 groups, which have grown a lot over the years. I love run bts, it's a really catchy song that makes you want to get up and dance. I would really suggest you to listen to House of Cards the live version. It's a song form the vocal line and has a deep meaning behind it, I know you're gonna like it. And for the rap line, you must start with Outro:tear and continue with the 4 Cyphers. That bit about their training days when several of them returned home from school each day to train into the night and early morning with the spectre of being cut and sent home hanging over them is very touching. It must have been so hard, and they wouldn't have made it without their amazing drive to be successful. We see lots of them behind the scenes and we do see them tired, falling asleep in make-up, being totally exhausted during a concert but we don't see how hard it has been for them over the last few years. What a mental strain it has been for them and how they've fought through that. One of their old studios was flooded but luckily Yoongi's mixing equipment didn't get damaged. He was desperately trying to produce one of their early songs so it would've been disastrous if all his work had been lost.
