One of the most powerful movies of ALL TIME. This one and METROPOLIS should be required viewing to graduate high school. But that would create a nation of thinkers...

For those familiar with Andy Griffith only as the sheriff of Mayberry or from "Matlock" this clip shows what an electrifying screen presence he could be--very good stuff...

Couldn't be more different than Mayberry here ....the first time you watch this is such a treat.

And how . This is an excellent performance so unlike my previous lack of enthusiasm for Andy's film & tv career

Brent Plott - I have known about this movie since the 1960s, KHJ-TV Channel 9 had shown it many times then; and we also have it on DVD.

Excellent performance in the movie. And a great study on what power does to a man. I don't watch many older movies, but this one is fun and powerful.

Bumped into this movie by accident. What a shocker. Where is Aunt Bee? Opie, Gomer, Floyd the Barber? Not in this one, he is one Wildman !

Damn, Andy Griffith had a set of pipes on him. If acting hadn't worked out he could have gone into country singing no problem.

Andy has said in an interview that Lonesome Rhodes is a monster, but then he has called Will Stockdale a “most Christlike creature .” 😊

It was not intended to bad-mouth Elvis. Lonesome Rhodes was based on Arthur Godfrey, folksy-friendly on the air but a tyrant behind the scenes, given his firing of singer Julius LaRosa and other regulars.
