The various problems with the Benz are annoying, but no major mechanical issues etc, and no resultant long periods with it being at the dealer, getting fixed. On that basis, imo, it doesn’t technically qualify for a buy back. But, if Benz offer u a buy back, take the offer, but, if possible, do the transaction in January, if that helps the taxation situation. Replacement vehicle Give a Cayenne a go Good luck Love the R8 ! I am an automotive engineer. I would never buy a MB for the reasons you describe. But here's the thing.... A typical MB depreciates to just 41% of its MSRP after 5 years and 60K miles. Most don't buy them. 73% are leased. Reason is, heavy depreciation and reliability cost out of warranty. Definitionally you should be wealthy to be able to afford a $150K car. Consider this. German cars and btw even Teslas have awful depreciation. They also make among the best driving experiences in the world. They are not built to last say 10-15 years like MB of even the 1990's...which includes BMW's of that era as well. Cars are built and sold to a profit business model. MB exists as a company to make a lot of money on the back of consumers like you. In fact, both Honda and Toyota are starting to copy MB's and BMW's business model of planned obsolescence with turbo's and hybrids. They are not built to last and the hope is as they fail out of warranty and they will, due their technical complexity, you will 'buy them twice' aka pay through the nose to purchase replacement parts and $200/hr for labor to install them. The only reason MB contacted you is because of your broad footprint on the internet and all the bad publicity of all the trouble you have had. The world continues to change. That is the reality above. Do a cost/benefit analysis and figure out if it makes sense to buy a $150K that is worth 41% after 5 years and part of this 5 year period if you don't buy an extended warranty, which adds to the cost of the car you will buy replacement parts and pay the labor to fix it. Or...lease it and endure the heavy cost of 'renting' without ownership. Either way you are paying out the a_ _ for a MB. Bottom line is, if you are rich, its ok to buy and drive very expensive cars. Most people are not rich and shouldn't. Your calculation is a bit more complicated because you get paid by youtube for car content. Consider leasing. There is no good business decision relative to buying a $150K MB car that falls like a stone in value. Consider how much money you would make by investing that $150K. Maybe lease your next car and dump the MB brand...or...only own it within warranty and put up with the headache of bad quality if you must drive a MB. Nobody can predict if they will buy the car back...or should care. It is what it is and the track record of MB and poor reliability is well known.
@JaretCampisiАй бұрын
Yep we take all of this into consideration when we purchase a vehicle...luckily as its for our business, it still makes sense to buy these expensive cars for tax purposes and if they have issues it actually gives us more content to create which also makes us more money :)

The fact they reached out to you directly sounds promising.. I had to jump hoops with ford and go about it on my own to get my vehicles lemon’d out.. keep us posted!
@ugottalovett6519Ай бұрын
Hey Jaret, I stopped buying vehicles in the 1990’s and just lease them cuz I don’t put more than 12k miles per year on them. In that process I get more vehicle for a smaller monthly payment and if you’re business us buying it you get to write it off! I also like to change vehicles every 2-3 years, not keep them long enough to fall out of warranty, so that’s another advantage to leasing. I’ve only leased 1 MB, but I had zero issues with it in the 3 years I used it and just handed the keys back to them and walked away for a small “disposition” fee (I think it was $250). I went a long time without leasing an MB cuz I heard of maintenance issues with them an Audi, so I most leased Porsche’s and BMW’s. BMW’s X6 M series is very similar stylistically to your GLE. You might want to take a look at that

I actually work for a Mercedes-Benz dealership and unfortunately went through the buyback process last year. I leased a 2023 AMG C43 last April (it was an early birthday gift to myself) and within the first few days on Easter Sunday to be exact I got a check engine light and a “Coolant System Malfunction Reduced Drive Performance Service Required” warning. I was babying the car and took the break in period very seriously. I took it into service, and they had to replace quite a few things that were apart of the coolant system, and while they were doing an overall inspection they found that my front differential was leaking. The car only had 280 miles on it at this point. It was about $3100 in warranty work. The second time I brought it in about a month later because I was driving home and when I went to turn the steering wheel locked up on me mid corner. Luckily I was able to brake to avoid going on someone’s lawn but it wouldn’t allow me to turn lock to lock. They updated some software and I was on my way. Safe to say that same issue happened 3 more times and by July 2023, MBUSA bought my C43 back. Ended up with a new M340i and didn’t have any issues.

I think there is a certain level of standard one can expect from a brand when they are loyal buyers and spend big money on a depreciating asset such as a car. It behooves the manufacture to keep up with "negative" stories such as this to figure out where the ball is being dropped, so to speak. It is definitely your right as the consumer to make said complaints and voice your concerns when every model you've bought has had issues. That's enough to jump ship and try out another brand. You are giving us, also potential consumers, a measured decision based off your experience(s). We can only benefit from this. You guys are going about it the right way, IMO. Some do not, however.

I went through the buyback process when I was having many issues with my 2022 Cadillac CT5 Blackwing. I had to file a claim through the Better Business Bureaus AUTOLINE. It's was a lengthy process (about 4 months) but definitely worth it. They will take some money out and classify it as a usage fee but depending on how many miles you had on the vehicle when it went into the shop for the first time it shouldn't be that much money taken out. For example, my first issue with my car I only had about 4k miles on it so since the car was driving fine up until that first visit they charged me $0.50 a mile. By the time I turned the car in I had 16k miles on it and they only charged for driving the car for 4k miles which ended up being $2K. Sad I had to let that car go it was a beast and I had a lot of fun with it when it was running right. But it was a better option than just selling it and losing way more money due to depreciation. Good luck with all of this.

Long story short, GM denied my buyback claim even though my case checks every box for Tennessee lemon law. What I was offered was cash compensation which is still being sorted out. Getting a company to approve a buyback is not easy and they even told me that. They'll do everything they can before they offer it. I’ve had the vehicle for a year now and haven’t had any more real problems since but MBUSA never came through with the service package or the two months of payment refund that they offered due to my inconvenience. The vehicle was in the shop for two months and as soon as I went to pick it up and signed the paperwork, all communication with MBUSA customer service stopped. Could not reach the guy by phone or email. So if a guy named Darrell calls you back, you’re probably screwed. 😂 Anyway, good luck, I hope they make good on their offer. However, I was going to buy my first new car a few years ago and was looking at a CLA 45 or C43 & on the test drive of the CLA it went in to limp mode and had a bunch of transmission issues with like 70 miles on the car. Brought it back and on the test drive of the C43 had similar warning lights like it was a Christmas tree. Left after that & have yet to even step foot in a Mercedes dealership. PA buyback laws or lemon laws does not apply to your case since Mercedes Benz USA and the Dealer ware willing to get you out of that car. Those laws apply only if MB USA declines to help which is not the case. You tell them what car you want next (if it is another MB product), the Dealer runs the number and present it to the MB Area Manager. He/She gets the Corporate to sign off and you're done. The rest is just bunch of paperwork. If you say, I am done with the MB products because I lost confidence then they will cut you a full refund and you get whatever the car you want.

Caught two of your mb videos. MB tech in PA. Your service department is 90% of your problem. Mostly at the tech level. Massive losses of good techs across all brands. Most dealers are like a gamble of who’s bay you end up in. Feel free to send a pm if you would like

Any possibility for a Range Rover? Maybe the sport SV or a low mileage svr? I just got a new 2023 sport so let me know if you have any questions about reliability or whatever.

Have Mercedes buy back your car after January 1 so that you and the gf take your time deciding on the next car. If this is even a small chance, drag it out to January. Tell Mercedes you need a few weeks to decide. Then, decide if you want a Porsche or another Mercedes.

BMW, X6-M. We’ve had two and they’ve both been awesome.

If you stick with an SUV, I say do one of these: A). BMW X5M Competition Or….. B). Cadillac Escalade V I wouldn’t get an Audi RSQ8 even though it’s a good option, simply because it’s too similar to the Urus you just had. Porsche Cayenne GTS? Meh. I’d go Bimmer over this

I saw your dad wearing a Trump shirt one time. I’m glad to hear you’re a registered independent.
