Fifty-two years ago, my husband-to-be and I were on our first date. SUUMMER RAIN by Johnny Rivers was being played. As our first date led to more and more dates, I decided that SUMMER RAIN was our song. In 1972 we were married. Two weeks ago at my husband's memorial, I made sure SUMMER RAIN was a part of the services. The beautiful song, and the two of us, had truly gone full circle.

Jose, do you know that 'poor side of town" was JR's Only number one , and he actually wrote it- but the guys in production kept fighting him so for about two years he kept perfecting it- because I believe he had to really craft a song, and that he did, for when finally released , he contributed one of poP/rocks finest . i always feel better after 30 minutes of a jr SHUFFLE, AND WAS HIS MUSIC wIDE IN Scope single needs a big thank you JR for 'staying alive' . He beat the odds riding those BMW motorcycles--. that you said ":no" to the burden of a big band while using the "Crew" instead...,making the argument "who had the best band?" JR, of course

"Summer Rain" grows in popularity every year....I started out in radio in 1979 and by 2005, it was one of the most highly requested oldies. We had requests for it at all the radio stations I worked at in such growing intensity. Another gem that we played in Monterey, California by Johnnie Rivers was "Look to Your Soul." He had more talent in his little finger than most artists including a majority of those unfairly inducted ahead of him into the fake Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Love, love, love this guy. I just found a sealed copy of the "Road" album with Linda Ronstadt on backup and it's fantastic. But to see him here looking so emaciated and drugged out and lip syncing is deeply unsettling right after viewing his Baby I Need Your Lovin' live singing and looking healthy and vital on the Ed Sullivan Show clip.
