I must say that I disagree with the ruling on this fight. Great fight by the way. Ellis displayed some high level boxing skills for the majority of the fight. His speed mixed with punch placement was his game. He showed some good defense in the early round. However, as the fight went on, he seem to be unable to maintain that same intensity, as Villa started closing the distance in the later rounds. Though he applied consistent pressure throughout the whole fight, Villa started landing at will in the 11th and 12th round. He scored 2 knockdowns in the 12th round. Much credit to Villa for staying composed and not being discouraged while being faced with such adversity for the majority of the fight; then to turn the tables in the final rounds. Great stuff! However, I think it was just a little too late for Villa to win a decision. He needed a knockout in my opinion, as Ellis had already banked too many winning rounds. I scored the fight 8 rounds to 4 Ellis and that’s being modest. Good fight nonetheless. Would love to see the rematch.
