When your ship explodes, is stolen, is misplaced, anything that happens to your ship that prevents you from using it, all you do is "insurance claim" the ship. At the same terminal you summon it into a hangar, there is an option to respawn your ship after a timer. The timer varies based on ship size, and you can pay earned UEC (the ingame currency that summit is trying to acquire large amounts of by robbing other people of their cargo hauls) in order to speed it up. Most ships are between a 5-20 minute respawn timer that can be expedited to substantially less time if you pay the UEC fee. Only the largest of capital and sub-capital ships take longer than 20 minutes to respawn. Also, ships that you steal and didn't either A, purchase with real money, or B, purchase with UEC are not actually yours. You cannot keep stolen ships via parking them in a hangar or anything. When you log off that ship you stole remains wherever you leave it, though if you left it out in the middle of nowhere, the same server remained up, you joined back on that same server and traveled to where you left the ship, THEN you would TECHNICALLY be able to keep a stolen ship, though you also wouldn't be able to repair or refuel it because it doesn't belong to you so it would ultimately end up useless after a long enough time.

as much as i hate exploiters/cheaters, no. People do this all the time. Servers are SHIT in this game with every patch and people hop from reason to reason to justify it. Stop blaming players for the developers problems and wrongdoings. The servers are crap because they always were and they dont intend to improve anything "because server meshing will fix everything, just wait"

in the 6 months I have returned to SC I've seen bad performance because of Siege of Orison, because of npcs keep spawning at outpost, because of overdrive, because of free fly + invictus event and because of dupers. only one constant: bad performance. now tell me it will be better when dupe gets fixed and Xenothreat starts. btw they allowed this dupe to pass. it was reported in earlier test stages and released anyway.
