I have great memories of flying in YS11 interisland in Hawaii on Mid Pacific Airlines. All the beers you can drink on the 1 hour flight!

This plane is beautiful and it is bigger than it's brothers the hs748, the Fokker and the convairs. The conviars have Allysons which are very nice too.

Rolls Royce Dart engines, but the best ever sound to hear is 4 Rolls Royce supercharged Merlin engines on an Avro Lancaster

How many of those were built with a door like that? Most of them I know we're built with the rearward opening door.

Interesting you noticed that. Most of the Piedmont Airlines YS-11s that I saw and flew on had the passenger door that slid to the side. The stairs were the same however. I flew one of these from DCA to ROA and CRW back in 1981. I loved that plane.

Great airplane but RR Engines are underpowered RR Mk-542-11J approximately 2400 Shp Too bad Allisions couldn’t fit it
