Heavenly Father, if it be thy will, please heal Dorothy's husband quickly and fully! In Christ Jesus' Holy name, amen! Dorothy, I believe you are 100% correct, we must first ask (or have an intercessor ask for us) but we must also seek God's will. I think we should also remember to praise and thank Him for his answers whichever way they go. His knowledge is far, far superior to my own. Thank you for your prayers for us too, Dorothy! This is one of the examples and reasons I like Matthew 8:2 with similar quotes in Mark 1:40 and Luke 5:12 and, especially, with Christ's own prayer in Luke 22:42. Yes, even Christ prayed "if you are willing." Matthew 8:2 A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, “Lord, *_if you are willing,_* you can make me clean.” NIV 1984 the emphasis is mine. Luke 22:42 “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.”

@@dfischer5878 Did you listen to what they said in the video? I agree with everything they said. Furthermore, you have to be told/taught by someone about this manmade view. You would never come to this conclusion on your own just reading straight from the Bible. The Bible teaches we are to repent and believe the good news. That is it. We hear the message and then respond to it. That is how God chose for man to be saved.
@dfischer58783 жыл бұрын
@@robinkirk1821 yes I did and reformed theology is what the Bible teaches. I had never heard of reformed theology , I was sitting under a church that taught we choose God first and I simply could not mind this in scripture. Scripture teaches so very clear we are dead in sin and trespass ( not sick but dead) utterly helpless. So although I totally agree we must choose I even more so know we do not choose God ( maybe the things we are told He provides) but not the God of scripture until He opens our eyes to that truth. ( john 12:40) God reveals who He is in His Word we however tend to try and “ soften “ that up. God is Holy and we are not. Knowing that not only had I sinned but I was a sinner deserving hell is what revealed to me the power of the cross. You say we hear the message and then respond to it? What about the one who does not, yet hears the same message? If your answer is “ I choose yes and they choose no” then that is man centered. Scripture teaches the one who choose yes had God open their eyes and heart to it. All of God. Reformed theology elevates God to His most high standing and man low where we belong. God bless

At the 31 minute mark, listen to Phil's Pelagian heresy. No Phil, Paul didn't have some inherent ability or sovereignty to thwart God's plan. He was dead in his sins and trespasses! You seemingly think Paul made a choice based on your humanism presupposition, which would make God not omniscient, holding ALL knowledge. Ask yourself Phil, can God learn anything? If not, and He holds infinite knowledge, why are you saying basically God learned of what Paul would choose?

I think the best argument for free will is the 40 days of temptation in the desert that Christ our Lord went through. He was tempted by satan after 40 days of hunger and thirst, and chose to follow the Fathers will. Also in the garden the night before his crucifixion. He sweated blood and asked the Father, the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak if there is another way take this cup from, if not let Thy will be done

Judas did have a choice in the sense that he did what he wanted to do. But the idea is, what about Judas is it that makes him freely come to the decision that he did? Is it is his attributes? his environment? his personality? his soul? his place of birth? his friends? his nurturing as a child? Doesn't God ultimately determine all of these things? And if so, how was it not predestined?
@dfischer58783 жыл бұрын
Yes. Predestination in that God sets are steps and our free will is based on the fact that we are all tainted by sin through the fall. Not totally depraved in that we are a bad as we can be but all of our faculties are tainted. Until God changes our heart and replaces it with one of flesh ( Ezekiel 36:26) we will not seek Him we actually run from him.

The Faith you believed through is the gift of God Eph 2:8-10; We are the gift of the Father to the Son; John 6:37. There is a paradox in our mind but God's ways are not ours and His Thoughts are not are not ours Isa 55:8. This is the theology of the reformation not something new. Even though we do not agree on this doctrine we can still love and respect one another as God's children regardless of our thoughts on how we were adopted. George Whitfield (election) and John Wesley (free will) disagreed but when asked if he would see Wesley in Heaven, Whitfield replied "I expect not, for he will be to close to the glory of God for me to see".

@dfischer58783 жыл бұрын
@@scottcovell5267 The simplest way to explain is That we are all hell deserving sinners. But God in His mercy moves on the heart of some and they come to faith. He does not cause others to “ reject” Him He simply passes over them or leaves them in their sin. In order to be a gift it has to be the choice of the giver to grant that gift. Rom 9:13 ; mark 1:3 shows us the gift of salvation comes before we are born before the world began and has nothing to do with what we do or who we are. These two had the same parents andGod makes this statement before they were born. Romans 9:17 tells us that Pharaoh was raised for the purpose to display God’s power through Pharaohs evil. God did not create the evil in him but left him in it.

@@dfischer5878 I appreciate the response. However, I disagree. If God made us in his image as thinking, feeling creatures with dominion over animals and plants AND above angels, then it's not unreasonable to think that we could logically deduce things. What I mean is this: from a logic standpoint, an all knowing entity and free will are not equally possible. It is either, or. You could say, "well it's all in God's mind." That's fine and well but it still means our actions were KNOWN in advance, from the very founding of the universe, by God. To know something 100% you've had to already seen / experienced it (or imagined it, like a plan). That means no one under God can have free will. Otherwise, God would not know everything. If God is also infallible, then it means God is equally responsible for all good AND all evil that exists. What's the point in testing mortals, if God already knows they will fail. That seems arbitrarily cruel. So...something has to give. Either God knows all, is responsible for all good & evil, and there is no free will OR...God doesn't know all, there IS free will, and evil is relative to those that experience it. It can not be both, it must be one or the other. This is the conundrum that I cannot get around.

Here's one thing we should keep in mind. The Lord says that many are called, but few are chosen. The Gospel is to be proclaimed to all people, but it's obvious that not all who hear the Gospel believe and respond to the Gospel. Why? Yes, we all have a choice, and our will does play a big part in what choice we make. But there's another factor we must consider. The Scripture teaches that all of us are spiritually dead. A dead man has no faith. Paul put it like this." As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were BY NATURE objects of wrath. But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions- it is by grace you have been saved.- Ephesians 2:1-5. Now, since we are all spiritually dead, we cannot have any sort of faith to believe the Gospel unless God does a work of regeneration to make us spiritually alive so that we are able to even have the desire to make the right choice when hearing the Gospel. He must give us a new nature that is capable of responding in saving faith to the Gospel. I think a good example of this is in Acts 16:13-15. " On the Sabbath we went outside of the city gate to the river, where we expected to find a place of prayer. We sat down and began to speak to the women who had gathered there. One of those listening was a woman named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth from the city of Thyatira, who was a worshipper of God. THE LORD OPENED HER HEART TO RESPOND TO PAUL'S MESSAGE. When she and the members of her household were baptized, she invited us to her home. 'If you consider me a believer in the Lord', she said, 'come and stay at my house.' And she persuaded us." Even though she was a worshipper of God, she didn't know God because she didn't know Christ. There were many others who heard the same message that Paul preached that day, but the only ones who responded to it were those whom God had opened their hearts so that they could respond in saving faith, which was Lydia and her household. The rest heard the message, but were still spiritually dead and unable to have saving faith. I thank God that He opened my heart to respond in saving faith to the Gospel, and if you're saved, it's because He opened your heart as well.
