I know we haven’t discussed it yet. But my thought on tattoos, tithe, and other Old Testament principles become torn. The New Testament never mentions tithe, tattoos, circumsision, etc. but for some reason modern Christians cherry pick those laws to live by while casting aside the other laws of sabbath, pork, trimming their beards etc. I personally think you should follow the Old Testament laws. Without cherry picking the ones that are deemed inconvenient in modern life. IE, if you’re going to tithe, not get tattoos etc. you should also refrain from eating unclean meats, and trimming your beard. (And yes the Bible does say not to trim the edges of your beard)

the new testament does mention circumcision (Luke) when talking about Jesus being circumcised according to Jewish traditions. But the whole NT talks about how the laws were etched on our heart.. they are spiritual and not fleshly. The scribes and pharisees were a perfect example of this. They were considered righteous by Jesus (Matt 5) yet in the end were mistaken about how they applied the law. Circumcision is mentioned again in Romans 2 starting in verse 25 and continuing to verse 29 where is states: * No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision _of the heart_, _by the Spirit_, not by the written code. Such a person’s praise is not from other people, but from God.* I use to think we didnt have to follow OT laws, but i did them because i thought Abba would appreciate the gesture. As i put away my milk glass and started to chew on meat everything transformed. _Our_ flesh hangs on the cross and is no longer subject to the law. From the cross of Jesus forward believers gained *full* access to what the scribes and pharisees (and everyone before the cross) had only glimpsed: God's Holy Spirit. We walk and worship in spirit and truth. (John 4:23-24) Our flesh rests at the right hand of the Father. Of course, if you're Jewish and these are your traditions (beard maintenance, mixed linens) it's not considering 'following laws', but traditions... different entirely from the commandments. Peace and love always ✝️🤍

I'd love to see all these "rules" and "laws" us New Testament living Christians are supposed to follow? Isn't that religion, the one thing followers of Christ avoid? Old Testament stuff like not eating pork, not doing this, not doing that, is something we don't follow because well, the whole point of the Bible, Jesus. Not trimming your beard and such sounds ridiculous now. That sounds rather authoritarian.

We are to "invest" ourselves in God's Word - learning it, understanding it rightly, believing it, delighting in it - and then take that "investment" and "invest" it in others - by sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with those who don't know Him - for their eternal "security" - as good stewards or "managers" of the treasures (His Word) He has entrusted us with! Let us be quick to understand (shrewd) in THIS MATTER. The parable is about Jesus, NOT money!

They may have damaged the hedges shorts, but they also pilfered each other. It serves as a fantastic reminder. No matter how shiny that huge gaining TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE investment all over the media is, stick with the long game and pick long term winners. I myself pick large cap high dividend stocks, a variety of mutual funds, and on the back end I invest in physical silver to offset my market money. Gamestop is still really a $15 stock. After that incident, you won’t read in Acts of anyone trying to do the same thing.

Straight up, best podcast on the web. There is so much of getting conservative believers riled up, when they could be pointing to Christ. Believers need to stop listening to Ben Shapiro, Glenn Beck, Rush, Hannity, and these people who don't point us to Christ and Biblical principles. They also don't do anything with their great influence. They could easily run for office and win, but they'd rather rake in millions by complaining and thinking their doing something impactful.

Okay, I love you guys, but I disagree STRONGLY with your interpretation of the shrewd manager parable discussion (and I strongly encourage everyone listening to this vlog to do your homework by studying the Scriptures and seeking the Holy Spirit's guidance in right understanding). First off, "shrewd" means a practical cleverness or judgment for one's own self-preservation. As believers, we are to die to our worldly "selves" and live for God so that we preserve our SOULS, ETERNALLY with Him. Next, notice how in the parable where the rich master praises the unrighteous manager for his wise SELF-preserving decision, BUT suddenly the narrative changes in voice ("And *I* say to you..." or "*I* tell you..." depending on the Bible translation you are reading) which indicates that Jesus is now speaking directly to the disciples: "And his master praised the unrighteous manager because he had acted shrewdly; for the sons of this age are more shrewd in relation to their own kind than the sons of light. AND I SAY TO YOU, make friends for yourselves by means of the wealth of unrighteousness, so that WHEN IT FAILS, they will receive you into the eternal dwellings." (Luke 16:8-9) The manager is commended for using the rich man's wealth to selfishly secure his own future at the expense of others. But Jesus is certainly not holding this man up as a shining example of morality or that we should be investing money to make more money (??); what He is commending was the man using his practical judgment to try every possible method of achieving his aim. The aim was not noble, but his persistence and shrewdness in pursuing the aim was! "Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves." (Matthew 10:16b... the manager was NOT as innocent as a dove, but he WAS as shrewd as a serpent.) In comparison, as Jesus points out, believers ("sons of light") do not use their wealth "in relation to their own kind" (as the world does) ... In other words, believers should be shrewd, too, BUT IN THE WAYS OF GOD - quick to understand what is right in the eyes of God for the preservation of their souls and, thus, bring others to Christ. To understand the phrase "wealth of unrighteousness" (Luke 16:9), Jesus presents the contrast, "you cannot serve God and wealth" (Luke 16:13). The whole parable is talking about the RIGHT handling of God's Word and JESUS being our true treasure!! Which is why he ends the parable with a sharp rebuke to the Pharisees, who loved money and yet believed themselves the most righteous concerning the teaching and understanding of God's Word. And Jesus is telling us to make friends with these people who want to preserve themselves and their lives with their wealth so that "WHEN IT FAILS" they will look to believers in Christ, they may have eternal dwellings (with Him in Heaven = SALVATION), rather than just a friend's place to stay when they can't earn wealth here on earth, like the shrewd manager. For those who have eyes and ears, SEE AND HEAR! Peace of Christ!

Yes! so few take the time to rightly divide scripture. Its not a good thing when people on a platform like they have misuse scripture.
@katiedc82393 жыл бұрын
@@dfischer1709 I agree, and it's things like this that caused, ironically, so many "denominations" to spring up which then created (and continues to create) more confusion for the world (and confusion, as the Bible tells us, is from the evil one) along with more confusion within Christ's body which leads to the disintegration of the church. You know, people want to discuss how there's no consistent science on Covid-19 or consistent telling of the truth in the news media creating terrible mayhem and confusion - and that's all true! - but how much more grave is it, when God's Word, His Son, is wrongly divided by believers, throwing stumbling blocks in front of those trying to come to THE Truth in all matters!? My prayer is that the Robertsons would really pray about this, go deeper into God's Word for HIS Truth through the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit, and then publicly repent, so that folks who listen to them aren't misled. Humility over pride. There are WAAAAY too many other passages in the New Testament that contradict their teaching/understanding on this particular parable. As believers (and I had to learn this!) we need to understand what the parables are for: Illustrative metaphors to teach us about Jesus, that watershed moment between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant, the Kingdom of God now AT HAND; it's Him teaching his disciples exactly what that means and how we are to follow Him.

Do not try to time the market (aka picking and choosing individual stocks) - buy and hold the market- the S&P 500 index fund is a great start. You may want to add the Wilshire 4500 stock index fund. They also have bond index funds and international index funds. Study what John “Jack” Bogle had to say about long term investing.

Good Morning, May I suggest....the twelve disciples were not the only ones speaking in tongues. Acts 1:15 indicates there were about 120 in all. Also Acts 2:3 informs us the Holy Ghost sat upon each of them. The conclusion is the whole estimated count of 120 were speaking in tongues. It must be understood they were NOT preaching the Gospel, they were only speaking of the wonderful works of God as recorded in Acts 2:11. The Gospel was not preached until Peter stood up and began to preach to them Jesus. It has been mentioned before in the “unashamed” pod cast that Peter was given the keys to the kingdom in Matthew 16:19. This fact is important to note because when Acts 2 takes place we must understand that Peter was the first and only one to preach the gospel because the initial unlocking of the kingdom was his responsibility. Now what that means is this - the teaching that the tongues in Acts 2 was for the purpose of the gospel to be spread to every nation in their language is FALSE. Again, the tongues were NOT speaking the gospel. So here is the truth - the tongues were evidence of the entrance of the Holy Ghost. Jesus said to Nicodemus in John 3:8 that a person who is born of the Spirit would have an experience likened unto the wind. It will transit wherever it desires and a sound would be heard. The Key words Jesus spoke in John 3:8 are these "So is EVERYONE who is born of the spirit". In Acts 2:2, the key words are “as of” in the KJV. It was NOT a wind that was heard!!! Acts 2:3, the key words are “like as of” in the KJV. It was NOT a fire that appeared. In a John 3:8 Jesus used something the human mind could understand to describe what had not yet been experienced. That being said... we must conclude through these truths that EVERYONE who is Born of the Spirit will have an experience in which the Holy Ghost will blow into their heart and it will sound forth as another tongue spoken from the mouth. NO ONE IS EXCLUDED FROM THIS EXPERINCE WHEN THEY ARE BORN OF THE SPIRIT This is not learned but occurs as the spirit gives utterance as is seen all through out the book of Acts. Good bless.

That's why I don't think Christians should be fearful of this pandemic. God is in charge and will call us home when it is time. Not saying we should be ignorant about the virus but going to church meeting for Bible studies are important things to be doing.

The only wealth in this parable is the "wealth of their unrighteousness"... Jesus is using a play on words to show where these people have laid up their "treasures" rather than in HIM, the Truth, the Gospel.

Luke:12 29 And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. 30 For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. 31 But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you. 32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. 33 Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth. 34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. The Robinsons have definitely use their wealth to help build the kingdom of God. God bless them.

From what I understand, if everyone that is in the group chat is using an apple device, you can leave the conversation. However, if just one person in the group is using an android device, you are stuck. Hope this helps!

That was weird I have money I don’t need so I put it in stock market to make more money I don’t need and here is scripture to say it’s ok? 🤔
@DIVINITYSAID3 жыл бұрын
for me its more like 'i have money i don't immediately need so i buy stocks to make money i will need in the future' - you know one of the disciples was a treasurer, right? its the love of money that leads to death, not the money (Judas).

Jase was also quoting Scripture on how if somebody can be trusted with little, he can be trusted with much. Likewise, if you're dishonest with little, you will be dishonest with much. Jase is obviously somebody who will do well-intentioned things with any money he makes. I don't know how you didn't see the root problem on that one, people.

yes, and there are many verses about stewardship. The biggest problem is context matters.

No. Do not be misled by Jase's and Al's unfortunate wrong understanding and teaching of this Parable. Love them, but they need to be rebuked on this one, because they've completely misunderstood the message of The Parable of the Shrewd Manager and can lead others astray! We are to "invest" ourselves in God's Word - learning it, understanding it rightly, believing it - and then take that "investment" and "invest" it in others - by sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with those who don't know Him - for their eternal "security" - as good stewards or "managers" of the treasures (His Word) He has entrusted us with! Let us be quick to understand (shrewd) in THIS MATTER. AND I SAY TO YOU, make friends for yourselves by means of the wealth of unrighteousness, so that WHEN IT FAILS, they will receive you into the eternal dwellings." (Luke 16:8-9) (I capitalized for emphasis.) The manager is commended for using the rich man's wealth to selfishly secure his own future at the expense of others. But Jesus is NOT holding this man up as a shining example of morality or that we should be wise in our investing money to make more money (?); what He is commending was the man using his practical judgment to try every possible method of achieving his aim. The aim was not noble, but his persistence and shrewdness in pursuing the aim was! "Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves." (Matthew 10:16b) The manager was NOT as innocent as a dove, but he WAS as shrewd as a serpent.) In comparison to the "sons of this age", as Jesus points out, believers ("sons of light") do not use their wealth "in relation to their own kind" (as the world does) ... In other words, believers should be shrewd, too, BUT IN THE WAYS OF GOD - quick to understand what is right in the eyes of God for the preservation of their souls and, thus, bring others to Christ. (see Matthew 6:19-24) To understand the phrase "wealth of unrighteousness" (Luke 16:9), Jesus presents the contrast, "you cannot serve God and wealth" (Luke 16:13). The whole parable is talking about the RIGHT handling of God's Word and Jesus being our true treasure!! Which is why he ends the parable with a sharp rebuke to the Pharisees, who loved money and YET believed themselves to be the most righteous concerning the teaching and understanding of God's Word. The reason Jesus is telling us to make friends with these people who want to preserve themselves and their lives with their wealth is so that "WHEN IT FAILS" they will look to believers in Christ, so that they may have eternal dwellings (with Him in Heaven = SALVATION), rather than just a friend's place to stay when they can't earn wealth here on earth, like the shrewd manager wanted. Study the Word, seek the Holy Spirit's guidance. With eyes to see and ears to hear the Truth! If you have excess wealth, give to the poor, the oppressed, the widow and the orphan. Peace be with you.

I am of the Understanding that the Book of Acts. Is a guideline for the New Testament Church ⛪️. That’s how we become a house 🏡 of Prayer 🙏. That and the fact that we don’t live by bread 🍞 alone. But by every Word out of the mouth 👄 of God.

Mr. Phil the intent of the group of investors in Gamestop was not to "pay them back". The intent was to change the system on the hedge fund pirates. Your analogy about "getting along with all men" and "vengeance is mine" does not work here.
