HOW to HOLD the pool cue right

When it comes to technique every detail matters. Holding the cue wrong, can create so many extra problems. Make sure you do it right from the beginning and then get the output that you deserve.

Please follow someone who isn’t pretty- it’s a whole different game- probably you will hate pool and never play. I never realized how important looks are. I’m asking Kelly Fisher’s channel to be removed from u tube- and the Black Widow- l’m not attracted to Irish or Asian women. I would never talk or listen to women like that- even less taking pool advice. I only let pretty women beat me in pool- if l’m not attracted l don’t let them win- hoping they will quit forever and leave u tube and stop talking about pool in general. Or maybe have those less pretty go on President Trump’s channel- l’m not attracted to him either and it would make sense for them to be there. Or at least get plastic surgery if they want to play pool.

I agree and "2nd that emotion"! Seriously, you are exquisite to behold and listen to so, I am subscribing and shall be looking forward to your new vids and tips. I am finally taking a break from 60-70hour work weeks and getting back into MY beloved sport and game of strategy and coordination and focus, Billiards. Dusting off my 1987 Meucci Custom and hitting the felt! I will see you wonderful folks in the pool halls & game rooms of America while I revel in the "battle" and delight in the companionship. Godspeed!

I use her looks to stay focus. I know when I’m in the middle of a game I can become distracted. When I watch Jasmin, at the end of the video I know by what I retain is largely based on my attention. My goal is to always get use to the distraction. Once I do, Jasmines looks or a conversation in the background when I’m playing becomes less noticeable. There’s attractive people everywhere. The same can be said about annoying people. Use everyday distractions to train yourself to focus. Apply what you learn to work or play.

I have noticed that many pro players, whether pool, tennis or golf, most often do not follow classical technique. A couple of guys are a really good model and they are, Gorst and Filler. I taught myself as a kid and I also would not recommend anyone to imitate my stroke either. The great thing about proper technique is to have a standard to fall back on if one's stroke is coming apart.

Hi Jasmine. Awhile ago I was told that a skeleton could make a shot if it were put on the shot and the arm held up at the elbow by a string. Cutting the string would release the string and the natural path of the arm would make the shot. Perfectly. Going further I learned that holding your hand at your sides, relaxed, without holding anything will tell you your natural skeletal position. Mine personally has the thumb turning a bit inward at the front. Now, hold the cue with that line in mind and this will be your natural shot line. Again, personally I had to turn my body slightly counter clockwise(left handed). Upon trying this technique my potting skills went up . A lot. Retraining my brain to get down on the shot at this angle is taking time, but it's working. Love your videos, Love watching you in competition. Keep up the great work.
@stringlarson1247
@stringlarson1247 8 ай бұрын
Heh. That just reminded me of a golf trainer who made a wooden 'skeleton' to demonstrate arm/writst movement and club head speed. It had a club in its 'hand' and he would be able to place a ball on the mat and bring the club head up and drop it with different arm/wrist angles. With all other body movements out of the equation, it drove home (sorrry, pun) the point as the proper technique would hit the ball about 5x further than various improper setups at the top of the swing.

I came up with a saying years ago that helps me stay level. "Don't close your hand, let your hand close." I am talking about the stroke, of course, but grip pressure needs to be applied in the right area. Most people I watch close their fingers on the butt during follow through, lifting the cue. Allowing the fingers to wrap the cue to a stop on follow through keeps the cue level. I play with a wrist stroke.

I have just realize how important a loose grip is in playing pool... increased wrist action, smoother stroke, a pendulum swing, better cue action and easier to draw the ball. It is gradually improving my game. I am working consistently on the elbow drop with my wrist action. I have already noticed a significant improvement in my game. I just need more time to get it where i am comfortable and relaxed.

I love watching your video Jasmin, it is always informative and useful. BTW, the diameter of the butt affects our grip a lot. Because we do have different hand sizes. Find yourself a suitable butt diameter cue. FYI, I asked one of my friends (who repairs cue) to reshape the butt (use a lathe of course) to order to suit my hand.

Jasmin, I have had the great pleasure of watching you and the other talented women of the WPBA/WPA this summer as you've played in tournaments here in Michigan this year. All of you are amazing and do so much for the sport in getting a young generation involved. While I was watching, aside from how you hold the cue and your stroke through the ball, I noticed the intense focus you ladies have. I also noticed that when the balls are not rolling right you can almost see how the focus shifts. Instead of watching the match and how the opponent is playing, You see eyes drift into the crowd and noticeably become distracted. (Made me realize why in the day there was a viewing room in most pool halls so there were fewer distractions but not as much interaction between average fans and players. I guess it's a trade-off.) My question is how as a professional and trainer do you teach focus and getting back into the zone? Drills build confidence. Stance, Stroke, and holding the cue build fundamentals. The mental game separates the league players from the tournament players (and a few beers LOL) Is there anything you can share about becoming a mental warrior? Thank you for again you do beyond just being a great athlete.

I have been playing pool for almost thirty years and the one thing I always tell players especially new players is that trying to copy someone else is always a bad idea because of the way that they play everything from their warmup to practice strokes to how they address the ball is part of their game not yours it works for them because they have been playing that way for years what I always tell players is that you have to find what does and doesn't work for you and your game and also the balls roll funny for everyone from time to time so just because you may have a bad day every now and then don't let that discourage you from playing and learning the game
