The fishtank audience is gifted suspense by the production team whose script is only there to fuck with the cast instead of the audience. Most of what is required from the cast in fishtank is improv which makes the reality tv of fishtank capital R reality tv. The audience also gets to interact with the cast to make a shared cast and audience and production experience for all. Everyone shares and participates. The audience both supports and demeans the cast. The audience’s financial support of the cast members is what writes elimination for some and immunity for others. The audience picks who they want to continue to see therefore the script is written by the audience’s love and interest in watching certain characters over others. Therefore the cast has an interesting relationship to the audience. There’s two way respect from production to the audience while making fools out of the cast. The production degrades the value of the cast which usually rules regular reality tv with improvisation and celebrity. by gifting suspense respect and interaction with the audience production gives the audience power over the cast. Fishtank is meta meta commentary about American humor reality tv and internet culture and the absurdity of competition for too little money within western society. This is what nonhollywoid internet influencers create when they set out to do something without studios who censor all their creativity and edgy humor. The cast or fish aren’t innocent though as their conceit for fame makes them vulnerable to be taken advantage of by production and the audience. In other words asking for something so coveted and so rare and so undeserving to nearly everyone such as fame and money that you’re willing to deny the facts of the absurd environment makes you a somewhat unsympathetic character in your own strange experience on a underground game show such as fishtank. And yet the audience still loves you and supports you as long as you try hard and don’t quit as does the production. The production and audience wage psychological warfare on the cast and you tell me if that sounds like what it’s like to just exist in this society’s reality. Here are some quotes that sum up the fishtank experience: You got tricked but you are perfectly safe. Not physically unsafe, To fuck with you guys, Can you tell me what fishtank is-it’s what you’re on right now, Live stream slash reality show, Me going crazy what’s the comedic value-it was really funny and I was dying laughing, Don’t worry about that stop thinking count in your head, Why is there so much suspense, Im a sneaky liar, What is going on, I don’t know what to believe no more, (The deeper level into the meta nature of the spectacle that is fishtank is the prediction of where entertainment will evolve into: audience control and participation. Soon we will all be making personalized entertainment with Ai.) There’s love in the 3 way suffering. Production bets they can hone their creativity to make money. The cast suffers being cornered by production and the audience for the experience of the tank and cash prizes. And the audience gives tons of time and money for their participation in the content they enjoy.
