Giant of an actor. He typically plays deplorable people, but I’ve never seen him do something where he didn’t own the scene. I don’t know how to critique actors, but when he’s present, to me he’s always the focal point. Even if that’s not the intention lol.

He also has more range than what we typically see him do. Even though Peter Pan wasn't well received, I thought he did a great job portraying both Hook and the Darlings's father, though they were completley different from each other.

As Mel Gibson said (not word for word but the gist of it) the movie's inaccurate? K, cool, maybe it'll make you pick up and read a book. As with any movie with conflict as a backdrop, they had to keep it condensed enough for most people to follow. If people got interested in the conflict as a result, cool, they can read about it. Same thing with the 1997 Titanic movie, is it 100% accurate? No, but they tried while still keeping with the condensed format of a movie, was it that bright when the ship sank? No, but we wouldn't see it otherwise. Did the break originate at the 3rd funnel? No, it started below the waterline, but again, we wouldn't have seen it otherwise. And they still had to make it a hit with a wide audience because of how much the set cost to make = Enter the love story. 100% accurate? No, but it's close enough, and it booted MASSIVE interest on Titanic, and Cameron has since MORE than vindicated himself by doing (Safe) dives on the wreck and collecting data we now know about the wreck, we know more now THANKS to that movie than before it. Same thing with The Patriot and other war flicks like it.

Although he probably talks nonstop if you don't tell him tell him to breathe from time to time. 😉 My first conscious memory of him in a movie is probably as Lucius Malfoy but I might've seen him before that. What a great guy, I love him! He's so attractive and sweet and he plays the villains with such arrogance and stylishness, so amazing!! 🥰 I love his multi-faceted characters and Captain Lorca was actually a great role of his recent stuff! 😊 Thanks for this interview, it was delightful! ☺️

One of the first films my family got on DVD (in a weird magazine subscriptionesque service that sold DVD's from a flyer in sets of ten or more films before netflix existed). We got The Patriot, The Mummy, Twister, Top Gun, Forest Gump, and a few others back when a 36" tv was considered pretty big (it was because it weighed about 200 lbs). The Patriot has always been one of my favorite, remote dropper movies. Jason Isaacs completely killed it as an antagonist. (side note: extremely underrated in Blackhawk Down)

I think the Tavington character was compelling because he was a trained professional, and capable, soldier who had this inexplicable cruel, ruthless streak in him. Like Isaacs said he was more motivated by his own pursuits as opposed to his loyalty to the king, and he couldn't care less who paid the price as long as he met his objectives. But, that made his eventual fate all the more satisfying.

I didn't recognize Mr. Isaac's played a ranger captain in Blackhawkdown, so in the patriot I admit I loved hating him, he has one of the best evil looks he is up their with Bill Skarsgard as pennywise. I was screaming when Mel shoved the bayonet in his throat! The music was patriotic to the bone, when Mel grabs the continental colors and screams "Hold The Line" I sobbed my guts out! The Patriot reminds the brits, whoever wins the war, gets to write the scripts.
