Nick Maiorelle 2 seconds ago I wrestled on the same team (Burnt Hills Ballston Lake HS) as Jason when I was a freshman before I transferred. I was mediocre as best...He was a beast. In Folk Style wrestling (typically the style used in HS Wrestling), certain throws are allowed as long as you hit the mat with your opponent simultaneously. Being a world class Judo Blackbelt, you knew what Jason was going to do but you couldn't stop it. His off balance agility and awareness were crazy. Like a freakin cat. Note he always traps the arm as well, controlling his opponent. Classic. He would love to let people up, forfeiting the escape points knowing he was going to impose his will with a Judo Hip Toss. Most wrestlers in his age group had never seen the level competition that he was accustom to. Jason was competing for medals at the Pan-Am games in Judo as a 17 year old against grown men, possibly younger but I am not sure. In High School wrestling he was a man amongst boys.

moe finesse the title is misleading. this is Jason Morris applying judo in wrestling competitions. Learning judo is more complicated because you have to learn tewaza, koshi waza and ashii waza. Meaning hand, hip and feet techniques for takedowns. But, once you learn the bio mechanics of takedowns, you become smooth like Islam Makhechaev

If it's allowed by the rules then it is wrestling too. In some years past, people beat Judo with "wrestling" moves even though they're also Judo moves. The IJF banned leg-grabbing moves to make Judo look "prettier". It's a shame because those were Judo moves too. It's good that wrestling isn't trying to ban wrestling moves that are associated with Judo. Today's wrestling actually allows more Judo moves than Judo!
@m5a1stuart836 жыл бұрын
Max Loh in my country Pencak Benjang used both Judo and Wrestling moves... Even though it was older than Judo itself. It was just folk wrestling but it has Judo throws but it dont have ground game like BJJ.

@@MaxLohMusic its a japanese thing. The love ippons. The sport is about slamming people and not takedowns. @pieterlindeque77985 жыл бұрын
@@TheGooinureye I think the only real way to counter what he does is to learn Judo at his level. In Judo the techniques have evolved in such a way that there is always a specific counter technique that one can attempt. But obviously if your whole background is folk style and someone of that level comes in using Judo you're not going to know what to do. It's like they say, the best way to defend against wrestling takedowns is to learn how to wrestle. Same goes for Judo. Judo is quite unintuitive for most wrestlers because the assume they have dominant position from the back but as we know most hip throws start from the back which cam throw wrestlers off a lot.
