And because of Jiz Sam was written so out of character they have a woman who lost a child, helped find Sonny's kidnapped kid, wouldn't stop til Michael was found...and they decide to write her having aided in Jake's kidnapping. What a crock of crap.

OK. If they wanted to sell Jason and Liz together there were better ways to do it. They didn't have to massacre Sam's character. You can NOT make me believe that the woman that: 1. Lost her infant daughter 2. Put her life on the line to help prove and find Michael, Kristina and Morgan. And believed in pre-borg Jason when he didn't believe that Michael was dead. 3. Fought to keep pre-borg Jason alive. This is NOT a woman that would watch a baby, no matter who's the mother be kidnapped! AND they know it was a crappy story line because it became obvious through the ratings. They ditched it and had the characters either ignore what had gone on before or gloss over it. i.e. Jason and Sam referring to the "mistakes" that were made. And not fully addressing what was done or the threats. I myself think Jason should have been without Sam for a longer period of time.

I'll be honest with you, I wasn't a Sam fan per se until this horrendous storyline, I was LiRic fan. One thing after another broke Sam down but I loved watching her during that time as awful as it was. They used her and Ric, Lucky and Alexis to sell the unsellable, failure that was Jiz.

Sam had every right to called out Jason on everything as she did. After all, it was him along with Elizabeth the ones that set everything in motion that led to Sam's mental breakdown that didn't allow her to react appropriately when Jake was taken and that made her do the things she did. Let's analyze Sam's actions objectively by looking at the facts. She didn't do what she did out of vengeance or vindictiveness that is just what appeared to be for people that don't bother to walk in someone's else's shoes. Also, none of what happened did so in a vacuum. At the time of the incidents, Sam was suffering a mental breakdown. She was heartbroken. The one and only person she had ever trusted in the whole world and in her entire life had lied, betrayed and cheated on her for months. Jason's actions broke her into a million pieces. She loved, accepted, supported and understood him unconditionally without any judgements and gave him everything she had. To her surprised, she received in return a web of lies, betrayal, intimidation, threats and blackmail. In an attempt to keep it real, the truth is that any woman or person in Sam's shoes couldn't say without a shadow of a doubt how would they react to that kind of situation. The emotional distress that Sam was subjected to was too much and too huge and she didn't have an emotional support system to help her navigate the emotional damaged that had just been inflicted on her. Granted none of what we had mentioned justified Sam's actions or inaction whichever the case may be. But it help us understand her state of mind at the time of the incidents. One thing is to have the intention to cause harm and another totally different is to be so broken and so damaged that you don't know what exactly you are doing from one minute to the next. Sam explained this when she talked to Sonny. She told him that she had a weak moment. That was at the same time when she told him that she wasn't going to fall in line anymore. Another good example of what we are talking about is the diminished capacity of the "battered women syndrome" (hereinafter, "BWS")(PLEASE SEE DEFINITION ON A NOTE BELOW). It is very hard to explain but it is an affirmative defense that exists in our legal system in cases of Domestic Violence. We understand in the case at hand some parts of the definition may be applicable because Jason's behavior here was abusive towards his ex-partner/former Fiancé, Sam. What we know for sure is that this was a case of Domestic Violence as defined by New York State Law. In the State of New York Domestic Violence is defined as “a pattern of coercive tactics, which can include physical, psychological, sexual, economic and emotional abuse, perpetrated by one person against an adult intimate partner, with the goal of establishing and maintaining power and control over the victim.” Under the law, and through legal precedent, ex-partners such as an ex-lover, an ex-fiancé or an ex- spouse are also protected. So, to be clear, by blackmailing and intimidating Jason was psychologically and emotionally abusing Sam. The worse part of it was that he had established a pattern of coercive tactics because he used blackmail, intimidation and threats which made it totally real and more believable to her. If that is not the very definition of abuse then we have no idea what it is. In other words, the GH writers turned Jason into an abuser, a lier and a cheater. And yet somehow, everyone in Port Charles expected Sam to have no reaction whatsoever or to have a normal reaction whatever normal maybe to everything Jason had done to her and kept on doing to her. But most importantly, they expected her not to suffer from diminished capacity and mental breakdown at the time of the incidents. Really??? We wonder how Carly would have reacted if she would have been subjected to the same treatment Jason did to Sam or how Sonny would have reacted to the betrayal, the cheating and the web of lies. Or how Jason would have reacted if Sam would have done what he did to her to him. Also, let's not forget that what happened to Sam could have happened to anyone as it did to Elizabeth when she was caught cheating on Lucky with Nikolas and she found out she was pregnant again and didn't know who the father of the baby was. She ended up in Shadybrooke. We decided to give all of the aforementioned details to put everything in the right context because we needed to try to understand Sam's actions because nothing happened in a vacuum. The reality of the situation was that in some instances normal behavior and reason go out the window when people we trusted, accepted, supported, understood and loved unconditionally with everything we had break us for no good reason. However, what was really sad about the whole thing was that the writers portrayed Sam's character as vindictive and out for vengeance when in reality she was a victim of what Jason and Elizabeth did to her. Besides let's keep in mind that said type of characterization is detrimental to all women because it doesn't place the blame accordingly and proportionally to all parties involved. Somehow, Sam, who was the injured party, got all the blame, was intimidated, blackmailed and threatened. Not only that but she was cast away by everyone and treated like garbage, especially by Jason. Which by the way is the one that right here blackmailed her into keeping quiet to allow the web of lies to stand as conjured by Elizabeth without thinking about the consequences. Said action suggested that Jason had no problem going against his own core values and betraying everything he always believed in to keep the web of lies going. In the meantime, Jason and Elizabeth which were the cheaters, the liers and the ones who betrayed the trust that was placed on them by both Sam and Lucky escaped all judgements and didn't suffer any consequences for their betrayals, the web of lies they fed to everyone, the damaged they caused and the mayhem they created. How was that fair to Sam or to Lucky? It has to be said that throughout this entire storyline everyone were so ridiculously wrong that we are left without words to describe them. And by everyone we mean, Carly, Sonny, Jason and Elizabeth. They acted like a bunch of hypocrites. Like anyone of them had the morale to criticize or to judge Sam. But more than Elizabeth, Jason was so wrong at so many levels, it was like watching a different character in an alternate universe. Not because of the actor's performance but because of the character's actions which were totally unnecessary, uncalled for and at times borderline idiotic without context or reason to be. And the reason we say this is because Jason was the one who never lied, the one who never cheated, the one who hated even the idea of betrayal and would killed anyone if he ever found out he had been betrayed. That Jason in this storyline just became everything he despised. More to our point, Jason's character lost his integrity and his moral compass and he went against the entire belief system he had always used his entire life which is the very essence of what defined him just because he became a Dad. If you think about it objectively, it was laughable, and ridiculous. Especially, because it made no sense for Jason to act like such a hypocrite. Jason was supposed to be that one character that would never put aside his core beliefs. He was supposed to be one consistent character. But out of no where he suddenly changed, just because he became a Dad. And to make matters worse, the irony of it all, everybody expected Sam to receive all of that with a sound mind and to remain cool, calm and collected. Sure because that would had being a normal reaction? Seriously? Simply put, this was just bad and lazy writing. Finally, on a more personal note we took it upon ourselves to write about this subject matter because we are survivors of Domestic Violence. We understand how it feels to have your trust broken up to the point that you loose all sense of who you are and what are you doing. We understand the need to lash out because you have loved unconditionally up to the point that it had cost you the capacity to become a mother. We never acted the way Sam did but we certainly understand the impulse because behind it there is an unbearable pain and suffering that has no end. So, we truly believe that we can bring a new perspective to this type of discussion. We welcome your thoughts and opinions.
