Cary has hated her ever since because she though Liz stole him from her. Jason refused to ever have romantic feelings for Carly forever after that. Carly blames Liz for that too.

Back in 1999 when Carly was trying to be with Jason before Sonny, Jason would hang out with Liz. One day Jason danced with Liz at Kelly's and Carly thought it was something else so she went and slept with Sonny. Meanwhile Jason went to a meeting for Sonny and it turned into an ambush. He was shot, for the first time. He went back to Sonny's to tell him and walked in on Sonny and Carly. He then ran, passed out in the snow and Liz found him. He refused everybody else's help except LIz.
