I agree. I also live on the Big Island of Hawaii and used to work in the Volcano Village waiting tables at the Thai Thai Restaurant and slinging goods at Hawaii True Value hardware store. Jason was a common patron to both places. Jason would show up to the hardware store in an old beat-up work truck and get materials and fertilizer for his farm. Coolest dude I ever met.

My God the way this dude portrayed Bruce Lee in this film back in the early 90's was just stunning to say the least. Gotta be one of the all-time best portrayals in film. Hard to think that Bruce Lee himself had he lived to see it wouldn't have been seriously impressed it was just that good.

They took facts mixed the time line around and added bits that didn't happen and left out characters like his mother ( which I thought was the worst change) but still it's an awesome movie even if facts are mixed around like his back injury being from a fight that took place so he could have the right to be able teach martial arts , and publishing that book etc etc

The injury was from Bruce’s over training with his weight training and his obsession with wanting to get more and more powerful for his Martial Arts.. Bruce was truely before his time.

Jason broke some major barriers for Asian actors in a very positive and powerful way. The movie spoke to a lot of my own dealings with racism in America and how I learned to carry myself in a violent world. it's gonna be hard for virtually any actor to be able to capture his essence in the same mannerism as Jason did. Not impossible but difficult not even a full bred Chinese martial artist could surpass Jason's performance what does that tell you. I just don't realistically see anyone capturing it the same way he did. That film alone stood by itself in the realm of Bruce Leeism and remains untouched to this day. Out of all the other actors this was the one person who actually did it. 💯💯

Signed up for Okinawa karate on the Air Force base that I lived on in the 1970's. I was devastated the hear that he had died. I was president of the Karate club in my high school in 1976. I had immediately realized while watching your film that you had poured your heart and soul into that film. Val Kilmer had channeled Jim Morrison and had been recognized for it, you should have received that same recognition! You were shafted and I am ashamed as a white man by that. Honestly I've never seen the movie because I feel no one can portray Bruce. He was one of a kind. A true human being first and a movie star/martial artist second. He embodied a person who was in complete control of his actions, mind, body and spirit. I believe his spirit had so much energy, that his human body just couldn't contain it. He lived his life to the maximum with the circumstances that was in front of him. The lesson I learned from Bruce is, "always be yourself and have faith in yourself, do not go out and find a successful personality and duplicate him/her". Bruce didn't believe in styles or different races or ethnicities. He believed styles would separate us as human beings, his goal in life was to unite as one, unite your mind, body and spirit. He was known for his movies but Bruce was more than that. He was passion and love for life in physical form. Rest in peace to Master Bruce Jun Fan Lee. ❤️ 🕊

As a preteen, I started reading Bruce Lee‘s books found him fascinating. Then in the early 70s I started into martial arts. By the time I was 13 I was a brown belt. Pat Burleson was my teacher. He said that I was perfect white and height, and learned very fast. The day Bruce Lee died. I was in such pain that I could not go back to the studio anymore. So when this movie came out, I was afraid to watch it because of the other crazy stuff that was going on with the fake Bruce’s So I waited to see it outside of the movie theaters, and I was shocked and surprised this young man Jason did a beautiful job of a person that I adored, and truly truly believed his words and his movements, as I’d was taught like Bruce Lee Thank you for making such a beautiful movie
