To answer Jason's character - There are lots of different kind of people who play D&D. Some of them are roleplayers who love to get into their characters and act out the roleplay, there's some players who just like rolling dice and moving miniatures around tactically and creating the most numerically optimized character, and there's players who like worldbuilding and making stories (usually the Dungeon Master)

Asking "what kinda people are into D&D" is kinda like asking "What kinda people are into dancing? or into acting?" You can do better. I've played D&D with all "kinds" of people. A good DM understands the rule books are a starting point, not some Holy Tome that must be followed to the letter. I can still go up to my friend from high school and say look out, it's firebeetles again, and he will start laughing uncontrollably, all from a campaign with a DM who hated math an rarely followed the die roll to the point.

I don't know what kind of person. Obviously, a very sick person. A very immature person. A person who has no regard for wasting valuable time.

Not great answers there, seems more like it was aimed at the folks who already play and not some like Mr. Alexander who asked a great question that most people would like to know. Missed opportunity, bummer.

I was watching this video and kinda baffled by the first guy's answer, which seemed more like an advertisement for the new DND 2024 books and maybe something he was just itching to say as soon as he got a chance. The 2nd guy gave a better answer to what makes TTRPG's special, but also did not answer the original question.

An actor not understanding the appeal of creativity and imagination is kind of baffling. Not everything has to be from Shakespeare to be considered as art, and can be as entertaining, thought-provoking and enjoyed by its participants, as a game of D&D ran by Bob.
