Just imagine in 1678, there were no modern buildings around it, you could see the river directly from the fort. How beautiful it used to be! No Electrical lights, no buses, no people, just silence and oil lamps.

It was all the fault of Noakhali Chittagong Sylheti Comilla and Barishal people who produced children like a rabbit and sent them to work in early childhood or Madrasa. Over pop and corruption are the main causes of all the problems here

The city that will test your patience, expand your horizons, and leave you with a million stories to tell. I've been to Bangladesh few years ago as I filmed one of our TV show episodes there and truth be told, where kindness is as common as street vendors, resilience is etched on every face, and the spirit of the people shines brighter than any neon sign.

I love watching folks, especially foreign bloggers coming to check out Bangladesh (looks like the amount of tourists going is on the rise)! You make the experience seem so authentic and exciting. Also I'm so sorry for the chaos you've faced among us, try to visit more hill-track and countryside areas to get the best of Bangladesh, like Sitakundu, Thanchi Alikodom, Mohamaya Lake, Debotakhum etc . You've excelled yourself here with this truly unique, simple, captivating and more similar adjectives to show this amazing city. WOW! The tricycle rides and just walking those busy streets. As a pretty experienced world traveller from previous years I was wondering why you chose to come to Dhacca but as an awesome world traveller yourself, you and Gabriel Traveler are definitely my two favourites, never missing an episode so that I can continue to travel vicariously through your lens and watch the goings on. Well done.

What many people don’t know about the Lalbagh Fort is that the fort derives its name from an old garden of red roses. Hence Lal (red) and Bagh (garden). Even more interesting is that, this particular garden is not the ones you see around the compound! It was located on the upper floor of the structure you see straight ahead, as you enter the compound. Walk across Pari Bibi’s tomb to the other end, walk left and at the end of the building you will find stairs to go up. Now walk to the other end. You will find a green patch here, and within the apparent field, you will find remnants of walls built in geometric patterns. This was the garden of red roses. It is believed that the then ruler had imported these rose plants from Basra (Iraq) and built this rose garden for his daughter. Look west here, and you will find another building beside an open space. This was the waterworks department. Water used to be pumped up from the river to this place. From here, it was brought up to this floor for the rose garden. More water was taken to the open tank on this floor at the center of the building (which you must have crossed on the way to the rose garden). From this tank, water would shoot down pipes to the garden below and feed the fountains. It was quite an engineering feat keeping the fountains running in those days!

I REALLY appreciate your courage to go through the narrow গলিs (go-lee) / narrow roads of shankhari bajar, lalbag, sadarghat! Since you have been to this area, may be next time go to the "University of Dhaka" area as well. And have some tea at TSC. May be visit the book fair as well? If you ever go to Mohammadpur again, try Singapore Juice House and Mona mamar HALIM 😅 Also, have you been to neelkhet or new market? Chadni chowk? Atleast neelkhet would be nice experience. You will see so many books but with much lesser prices! I wish you enjoy my city, my home to the best 😊

with our new metro, it takes only 30 minutes from North (Uttara, airport) to South (Motijheel) which is 3 hours by car. so using the metro is better :P also please visit Padma bridge- this is also a game changing bridge for Bangladesh, connecting the southern Bangladesh with Dhaka and takes only 6 hours from Dhaka to South, which previously took more than 13 hours sometimes, due to ferry connections and so on. Padma Bridge is one of the longest bridge in the world over the river Ganges in Bangladesh and its a beautiful ride. the bridge approach rods, the bridge itself, is spacious and wide and smooth, reminds me of a drive in Texas. you can easily go to 90mph in Padma bridge, which is astonishing for Bangladesh.
