We visited Amsterdam for 10 days in June several years ago. Being older - in our 60's made the most of walking nearly everywhere and using trams as well. Vondelpark is a wonderful place to visit, with places to take refreshments and enjoy the scenery. Obviously sauntered down Bloemenmart. Enjoyed the "sport" of avoiding the cycle lanes, and open minded enough to appreciate those who prefer the coffee shops etc. Would happily visit again.

I wished if you could show more about Amsterdam/Netherlands because your videos are down to earth. I visited Turkey after seeing your videos n the contents were realistic and appropriate. I adore watching your videos n am also inspired to visit those places. Your language does not have a typical Englandish/British accent but a simple/clear one that can be understood by one n all. Happy travelling n best of luck....🌹☺️

@Oscar well its very hard to find a house and if you find a house the prices are pretty insane but the salary is also pretty high so doesnt really matter. i live in amsterdam and i wouldnt want to live anywhere else in the netherlands
@sirquasi2 жыл бұрын
@Oscar Housing will definitely be the hardest part te get started the site funda will show you some options. Also make sure you buy a (cheap) bike (or rent a swap fiets) when you settle in. If you are planning to stay longer in the Netherlands make sure you learn Dutch, it will make it easier to integrate. Also if you want to make some Dutch friends (and step out of the expat bubble) join a (sports)club. Three important administrative things to arrange asap on arrival: 1) bankaccount 2) BSN (civic service number) 3) register at Amsterdam municipality.

Hi Jason, a bit late to the Vlog….. It would of been really nice if you had more time to visit Denhaag (The Hague) as well. It’s where I grew up as a Child and where all my Family lives. Good Childhood Memories. ☺️ My Family are from Surinam 🇸🇷 (previously a Dutch Colony), in South America. 👍 May God, The Almighty bless you abundantly, wherever you go my dear Jason. Peace & Love 💙✌️🇬🇧

Trams and bikes are plentiful but if you just wanna use two feet and a heartbeat, it's the most walkable city on earth. Beautiful layout with so much to see that RLD and coffeeshops are an afterthought. I recommend going in March-May, tulips are in full bloom and King's Day is an absolute blast at the end of April. I understand why so many ex-pats move to the Netherlands.

Walking in A'dam is litterally walking in the 17th century. between 17th and beginning 19th century it was between the biggest and third biggest city in the world. Ofcourse from mid-19th century other European capitals took over and after Napoleon the city declined. Which is a Gods wonder; there was little renewing so now it's a historic museum that has been delivered to us now. Time-machine. nice video, really !
@sgtscheetje2 жыл бұрын
If you appreciate the 17th century atmosphere, I would recommend Delft, Leiden and Dordrecht. They resemble Amsterdam, but smaller and they are less touristic. All three cities are easy to visit by train.

@Oscar I would advise you also to check out other places in The Netherlands, which is more then just Amsterdam. Check out Haarlem, Utrecht, Leiden, Den Haag, Delft, Amersfoort, etcetera. To my personal opinion as a Dutchman better places to live than Amsterdam, less touristic, better quality of living 😊
@AdventureAttitude2 жыл бұрын
@Oscar yeah of course. I would second what Jacobus said. A daytrip to Zaandam is VERY recommended. And it is less then 20min by train. The city centre of Amsterdam has 100s of hotels, airbnbs and hostels. Have a great time

No in the Netherlands, "De Hel"-the hell- is a nature reserve near Veenendaal (of the Dutch Forestry Commission -staatsbosbeheer-) and "De Hel"-the hell- is also a hamlet in the municipality of Súdwest-Fryslân, in the Dutch province of Friesland. its located in the east of the village of It Heidenskip. But not in Amsterdam. And remember you are welcome (to visit), but also free to leave.

It's no secret that Amsterdam is one of the most inclusive and diverse capital cities in the whole world. The city is home to 180 different nationalities!

First off, he went to the more touristy places, those do not represent NL but NL tourists. Secondly, 25.2% of NL has a migration background. Meaning they or their parents are from another country. From 3rd generation onward the statistics bureau states that they have a Dutch background. More than a quarter of NL is first or second generation immigrant. Of which, 14.4 is non western. Third, you cannot base racial diversity on skin color or appearance alone.
