@Outnumberedbykidsandcats10 ай бұрын
I’ve always taught my kids this and that they can also watch where they are walking to not step in dog mess or potholes by looking ahead of them at the ground which allows you to be more observant about what’s going on around you. To be fair though my kids have all done cadets throughout high school (age 11-16 here) and army training at the school as well as on the actual barracks has been really good for them. I think it should be compulsory for kids - it’s good for them to learn respect, do some exercise, learn ability to survive in the wild and gives them a maturity that kids now seem to not have.

When I come in, I do a quick scan of what people are doing, look at the aisle signs to break the 'flow', then go about my business. When in line, things are usually arranged to direct one's attention to the 'impulse buy racks.' I look up, look past the racks and registers, for the exit or for a window. When I see it, I can bring the 'outside' feeling inside and be focused and alert again, not idly staring at something or nothing. AND I NEVER STARE AT MY PHONE.

The cameras are so small and light today that it is possible to glue it behind a painting where the color is black, red or dark. If you've ever stayed in a room in one of the major Vegas casinos in the early 2000s, you'll notice that the light fixtures in the bathrooms are surrounded by a mirror-like material. Now I don't know if this is true or not, but my friend's uncle had security leadership role at a Vegas casino in the '90s. And according to him, or rather his brother, my friend's dad, the casinos fitted up hotel rooms with cameras. Could be total bs. Although, those weird one-way mirror-like devices I saw made me believe in at least the possibility. I've never seen bizarre, and out of place looking, light fixtures like that anywhere else.

It doesn’t have heavy sticky stuff- so that it wont pull paint off the walls when you remove it, and wont leave sticky residue behind. Even less sticky residue than bandages-This will make it perfect for what you suggested, because it wont harm the surfaces in the air bnb when you remove it. I could pack a roll of that . Its very lightweight stuff. And much cheaper than bandages. But the idea came from you so thank you- because you can’t throw a towel over every little spot, because there wont be something to hook an item of clothing/ rag/ towel onto in most spots on the wall/ paintings etc. Excellent idea

Anytime I've stayed anywhere I always do the fingertip test on the mirrors. I don't remember where I read about it, but if you touch a mirror and there isn't a gap between your finger tip and the reflection, it's a two way mirror.
@lrmackmcbride749810 ай бұрын
Front surface mirrors are not always two way mirrors but two way mirrors are always front surface mirrors. Front surface mirrors are definitely worth further investigation.

One thing that I'd heard of recently is to also run the water in the shower for a moment and look for anything odd with the flow. There's some cheap, waterproof cameras out there now and it pops up from time to time in the news about someone hiding one inside the shower head.

Thanks for the good advice. It makes perfect sense. Cheap stuff is cheap for a reason. Besides, even cheap detectors are too complicated for average users. I know this from personal experience. As to the fee you charge for doing a sweep, it is reasonable. The equipment alone is very expensive and your expertise is even more valuable than the equipment itself. It reminds me of a mining story from the old west. A wheel that ran the water pump for the mine was acting up. So the mining company asked a very experienced Cornish mining engineer to fix the problem. They did. The engineer made it look easy. When the mining company asked what the charge was, it was a good sum of money. The mining engineer reminded the mining company that they had the use of his experience. The mining company then gladly paid the bill.

Recommend an idea for covering up suspicious holes or items. Take a piece(or more) toilet papers, soak it wet, and plugged or stick it wherever you want. It can cover many areas and It will stay there even after dried up. Its free, fast, efficient, leave no sticky residue/traces. Be safe out there.

Some of the air bnb's have there cameras out in the open. The living area, kitchen, doors, swimming pool area. Its creepy. But they tell you before you rent. I took towels and covered them, one person called immediately and td me to remove the towels...i asked why they were watching us watch tv and they said surveillance. I told him I wasnt removing them until we checked out, and i would wait until they did a walk through to make sure nothing was missing, broke or what ever. He finally agreed, and understood my concerns. Its creepy when you know someone is watching you ..

BS for broke shit? Something somebody would say when they value their money more than their safety and security, especially when you have a family you're responsible to protect.... Let's be honest. If your life depended on it, like the majority of people in the US, you simply wouldn't HAVE 25k to drop in order to make sure you stay alive. That's exactly what the last 4 years has been all about, attempting to put you people FURTHER out of your advantages, and getting ready for the complete controlled collapse of society as YOU know it.
