How the car thing works : it use superconductivity, the car is made from a magnetic metal and the "blocks" you see under the metal bar are some kind of special ceramic. When chilled with liquid nitrogen it creates a levitation effect, it is usually done so you can make objects float but since the magnetic current works both way it can also keep it floating upside down ;) That type of ceramic superconductor need a really low temperature to work (usually aroud -173 Celsius) Edit : thanks for liking my comment Jason!

Ok here's my thoughts. He used a magician's force for the red and black boxes. "Which one do you like"? Also he's dressed in red and black but the red is more dominant. I suspect the black box may have a false bottom (or lid) with a folded 2s already set up. Next the appearing card box is just some foam squished up which looks like a card box. When he takes the elastic off and drops it, the foam takes shape and he swaps it out for a real deck on the edge of the table. At some point (during the edit that Jason was talking about) a red double back card was added to the red deck followed by a red 5 of hearts. Both these cards have a slightly warped shape to them which magicians call a "breather" which Penn hinted at. The breather allows pretty well anyone to cut to that spot. So... the girl cuts to the breather (leaving the 5 of hearts on top.) A double back card is directly underneath it. It's cut a few more times to the centre and then back to the top again. He instructs her to take the top card, and "don't look at it" (cause it's a double backer) and put it face down into the face up deck. Then he flips the deck face down again. The blue deck is already set up the way he needs it. With a 5H on top and the QD reversed in the middle. The only thing I'm not sure of is how the QD in the red deck was reversed. It might have happened when he put the red deck onto the laser platform (Otherwise that laser had nothing to do with the trick, but I'm sure there's some kind of reason for it.)

So that is a science experiment with liquid nitrogen and certain materials. The phenomena is called quantum locking. How it works is you can take a disk or other object that contains a small horizontal strip of yttrium barium copper oxide in it. if you make the strip of yttrium barium copper oxide cold enough it basically becomes a superconductor creating a Meissner effect which bends the magnetic field around the material in the disk or other object and levitates the object. Why the disk or object with yttrium barium copper oxide moves is. In simple terms the yttrium barium copper oxide is not 100% pure there are intentional imperfections added into it. So rather than just making the yttrium barium copper oxide float in place you can make it move. The best way to think of it is each magnate that the yttrium barium copper oxide disk or strip is floating on is emitting eclectic vines and the intentional imperfections let the disk or strip of yttrium barium copper oxide "swing" move from one electric vine to the next in a extremely efficient current using cooper pairs but only when the yttrium barium copper oxide is super cold other wise it won't work. There are more in depth explanations on KZbin about what's going on and how quantum locking works. This is my simple over view of what's going on
@earthboundkid14 жыл бұрын
@alphadawn2015 lennon No the two are slightly different. The locking as I understand it are the the intentional impurities in the yttrium barium copper oxide that allow some electrons from the magnates the disk is floating on through in Cooper pairs. Which allow the disk to move from one "vine" to the next in a current. If there were no current the disk would not move and just float. Cooling the yttrium barium copper oxide is what turns from just a normal material into one that can float on the magnates but not move. Think of this way. The superconducting aspect is like a person in a sky diving an indoor wind tunnel they are floating but they can't move around super well and only in the limited wind tunnel area. While the quantum locking is like a person climbing on monkey bars you can move around with ease but only in one direction as long as you have monkey bars to climb and have the energy/stamina to climb them. The cooling of the disk and the nature of it do both allow it to float and move. However what allow the disk to move and what allow the disk to float are two slightly different but related things.

The car is science, it's an aray of magnets and a supercondutor. The superconductor locks on the magnetic field of the magnets so it levitates, but to have a superconductor you have to get a certain material to very low temperature. If you get it to a certain temperature the material will have no resistance to the current, that's why they call it superconductor.

Hahaha! The floating car is called the meisner effect, and no it's not magic, it's science. The layman term for the effect is called quantum locking and it looks like he acheieved the effect with magnets. For magnets to become quantum locked they must first become a superconductor which can be acheived by cooling it to somewhere on the order of 39 kelvins.

For the train upside down, check "quantum levitation" BTW quantum entaglement is indeed a real thing that is very difficult to understand and grasp
@ebreshea13374 жыл бұрын
But entanglement isn't at all like what he describes. It's not that "if you do something to one, it will happen to the other" but more like "If you know something about one, you will know something about the other". And it doesn't mean they are the same. Entanglement happens all the time and it doesn't turn random objects into voodoo dolls. But I guess it's good for getting people curious about science, and his interpretation of this phenomenon works as a setup for the trick.

The part when the girl cuts the deck and the top card coincides with the top card at the other deck I can't explain, but the part of the boxes I believe that the boxes are fully responsable of the effect. In other words, that weird pattern on the inside of those boxes looks really fishy, I believe there is a secret compartment on those boxes which are hiding to equal folded cards one red and one blue, now, on the box the spectator choses he drops his card and then there probably is a mirror or something like that which hides the choosen card and reveals the previous concealed card which is the same card of the other box.
