The folks at IK Multimedia have just released a new update for Tonex Pedal. This update adds a tuner to Tonex Pedal which has been something some people have been asking about for a while. I like your videos. Very helpful. Use tonex one as an Interface for tone settings will be helpful. Before uploading it for live session. Makes tone adjustment much easier.

The software needs two major but simple changes : The ability to pull up a preset in the software that is loaded on the pedal and make live tweaks/changes to it from the software, not just the pedal, and ; a revamp of the Library where you have 3 sections : the list of what is loaded on the pedal, you're own list of captures/downloaded tones, and the Tonex cloud list. This way you can simply drag and drop anything to anywhere. These simple improvements have been requested since launch but seems like it's not coming anytime soon

I just wish my pedal worked rn. i've been waiting for this since release and now i can't update the pedal because it decided to stop working. The usb is dead somehow. It's been sitting on my pedalboard and worked fine at rehearsals now the unit refuses to connect to usb on several computers when i try to update. It doesn't even show up in devices on windows. If i get the pedal to work this update means i can basically throw my pedalboard away and just gig with the tonex.

Well, I just found out the hard way, that the Tonex pedal doesn't mute 100% while tuning, so it's a no go for live use. Also the fact that when in amp+cab mode it's not possible to turn of bypass mode is also a thing that needs to be fixed. Hope they fix this in a future update.

Your videos on Tonex are always very helpful and very much appreciated. Could you do a quick tips video on how you have your tonex setup? I mean do you run your guitar into your interface and then open the software on your computer? Do you run your guitar into the tonex pedal and then use the tonex software? I come from using eleven rack and Mooer Ge200 and I am use to running my guitar into the ( Modeler) and then having the software open. I know with tonex you can't make adjustments on the pedal, but no matter how I run the guitar into the softwarre I have issues like latency which makes trying to edit in the software impossible.

Hey Paul, I’m not Jason and definitely don’t have his knowledge base, but I am using the pedal as an interface (I have another better one, but I like being able to A/B with the same interface for the pedal and the software) and haven’t had a latency issue. I am running the guitar into the pedal, set to interface mode, into a Mac using USB and my out is set to an Apollo interface which is connected to my studio monitors. I use the standard sample rate. For live mode I actually am using the same path except I turn off the amp in the software as it still picks up the signal and ‘doubles’ the effect, which sounds awful. No latency either way.

Jason, have you used your Tonex into the fx loop of a multi fx? I’m noticing sound quality degradation due to ad/da conversion. Wanted to hear your thoughts about it or if you have found a solution, Thanks!

I have used it with an HX Stomp, with no issue. I have a feeling the issue would not be conversion though if something is not right.

How accurate and responsive is the tuner? I use mine with a Boss MS-3 which has a built-in tuner too, but if this is more functional and accurate, I might start using this.

If it’s the same tuner as in the software , it sucks! Ik multimedia has the most crap tuners of all software manufacturers, period! Compare it to the the neural DSP, thats a standard everybody should follow, come on it’s a tuner, what’s so hard on this coding, are you kidding me ikmultimedia?

I have a strobe tuner and the software is pretty accurate compared to that. Have you checked your reference pitch to make sure they are the same between tuners? That said, a non-strobe is a pain to use on stage so not a super helpful feature for me, but good in a pinch I suppose.

​@@philipmarsh3522looking forward to testing out the pedal but I agree with the poster above the tuner in the software version of Tonex and on an AXE IO interface isn't anywhere close to the same as a Sonic Research Turbo Tuner. Hopefully the one on the pedal is usable, based on the video the implementation itself looks pretty good. The question is how fast it can track and provide feedback as that is what equals accuracy in practice.

@@philipmarsh3522 Just tested the new built in TONEX tuner. Tuned my guitar the best I could with it. Then unplugged it and went straight into my Turbo Tuner. Some strings were "off." Not by enough that a live gig would have been a problem, but certainly no where near accurate enough for a guitar setup. It did seem better than the abysmal one that is built into the software previously. But you can tell the Pedal display isn't quick enough to respond like a true strobe tuner, thus can't be as accurate. Happy to have something decent built in though!

@@brianwalton2602 That’s what I’m thinking, if you need something quick better than not having one. Seems like others are also having erratic results with the software tuner, as well. I do tend to listen as much as I look when I’m tuning and have a pretty good ear (at least for the six guitar strings, a few decades of listening helps lol) but they really should make sure the tuner works as it should. And I agree on the strobe, it’s so much faster and easy to see.
