They are NOT sisters. The way that gems are formed is an "unnatural" process, where they don't have families, per se. They are goop (or something, I guess Amethyst wasn't very descriptive in the "How Gems Are Made" short, so it's not quite certain) injected into the ground. They don't have families because they don't have parents, so they can't have sisters. In the episode "Earthlings" when Steven and Amethyst form Smoky and Jasper becomes corrupted and later poofed, yes, Amethyst DOES say "Come here sis." HOWEVER! It is not said in a literal way. They aren't even from the same Kindergarten, if that means anything. She either called her "sis" in a friendly way, as you would call a friend "bro" without them being related to you, or because they are both Quartz soldiers. Another point you may bring up against me, perhaps, that if they are both Quartz that "pretty much makes them sisters, so it's wrong to ship them." But, I regret to inform you, that Ruby and Sapphire are the same type of gem in that sense, as they have the same chemical composition and crystal structure. Rubies and Sapphires are both corundums, which could be used as a similar blanket statement to quartz. So there. Come back at me with THAT. EDIT: I don't even ship this, just adding my input to combat the slew of comments that try to make this unbelievable statement.

Void Ivy "somewhat" is a bit of a stretch. They're classified as different gems for a reason. And it's because in every way they're different, from how the gem itself is created, how rare the gem is and from the appearence If geology is taken into account, they're nowhere near being anything remotely close to being related Jaspers are known for their stripes, the name Jasper being derived from the french word 'Jaspre' which means stripped. They're opeque gemstones that can be found world wide with little effort whereas Amythsts are translucent and somewhat rare and hard to find The only thing these two have in common is that they come from the ground

So, I noticed everyone in the comment section is getting triggered because, Amethyst and Jasper are 'Sisters'. That is not the case, gems can not have mothers or fathers, so it only makes sense that they can not have siblings as well. Just because, Amethyst referred to Jasper as sis doesn't necessarily mean they are sisters. It could just mean someone you are really close to and spend a lot of time with, as if they were your sister.

By the way, Jasper and Amethyst ARE NOT ACTUALLY SISTERS. They emerged different times and are two completely different gemstones with different placement. It's like saying Ruby and Sapphire are sisters. Plus, Jasper is from the Beta Kindergarten, where as Amethyst is from the Alpha/Prime Kindergarten. Even though the Diamond is the same, doesn't mean they are sisters. Ship what you want, don't tell others they're wrong. Be nice. : )
