A magnificent palace & equally a great video presentation too.It is amazing to find that these buildings are still maintained meticulously at a great cost for the world to see.In olden times Kings & Emperors lived in great opulence & at the same time their subjects were leading an ordinary life.In modern times instead of these palaces,nations build factories,creating wealth & employment for it's citizens!
@SonicPhonic7 жыл бұрын
"Employment" and "factories"? Europeans were treated like slaves when monarchs ruled Why do you think that many nations became republics? "Employees" of the kings and queens did not get to chose their careers, and they didn't chose where they worked. Great artists, stonemasons, musicians, writers, etc. were basically the property of their rulers.

It is BEYOND obscene that a pampered queen is meeting in her luxurious 'office' inside a massive decadent palace, with the chairman and members of a public social assistance centre, discussing the 'critical problem of over borrowing' as if she has any clue of the hardships facing those less fortunate, especially when millions of people are unemployed and need to become SLAVES TO DEBT in order to avoid becoming homeless... something this woman simply cannot relate to, as she swishes around 24/7 surrounded by priceless art and antiques, with an army of servants taking care of her every need, while it is struggling taxpayers that pay for the food she eats, the clothes she wears, the roof she sleeps under, etc., etc. What solutions she has to offer the 'critical problem of over borrowing' can be summed up in the fact that she has absolutely no clue what the price of milk or eggs is today, let alone that she can feel the pain of desperate people faced with the constantly increasing prices to rent an apartment when you are paid a basic minimum wage that has not increased in decades and hardly pays the bills. (This is just another self serving publicity stunt by the royal family to appear relevant... it would be funny if it were not so sad.)

Monarchy in Belgium is constitutional and popular in nature. The hereditary monarch, at present Philippe, is the head of state and is officially called King of the Belgians (Dutch: Koning der Belgen, French: Roi des Belges, German: König der Belgier).

I can understand you feeling that. The artistry deserves respect, quite right. I suspect people choose to use this as an outlet for their outrage over what Leopold II did in Africa because what he did is so very, very much more horrific than, let's say, the typical European colonizers. Nothing explains what he did, and to see any, any, ANY benefit or benefiting to it is remarkably evil.

I do agree the credit system often used is not user friendly. So in essence there is no over borrowing but sooner the credit system is harbored badly at extremes often. For example, a civilian and a military dont have the same borrowing potential and the military is most likely to default. However, then we run into the problem that in many country everyone is military which again means, the credit system is not equal for everyone in particular for the civilians. So in essence the credit bureaus have been invaded since earlier than 1995.

Interesting. However mention of how Leopold II paid for the renovations is missing and is part of the history of the palace. The fact that it mentioned a room decorated to highlight the Belgian Congo, but never mentioned that under Leopold II's personal rule of the Congo, mass torture, executions and extreme brutality were used - on a scale that today would be classed 'crimes against humanity' and see judged Leopold II a war criminal, is simply wrong in a history programme. The modern Belgian royals have no responsibility or blame for that - but it was that vicious brutality that funded Leopold's rebuilding of the Royal Palace, and cannot be ignored. It is a dark part of the building's story. The rebuilding was literally funded by chopping the hands off children, and the breasts off women who were not making enough money for the monster of a king. The Congo room should have a monument in it to remind people of the victims of Leopold II's violent and despotic personal rule in the Congo. People deserve to be reminded how his rebuilding was funded and the victims deserve to be remembered as part of the story of the palace.

Creating a better and more fair world means that monarchy can have no place in it. A republic is the ideal model for society, in particulary a Christian Republic. The few good things Monarchy includes can be incorporated into that state meanwhile getting rid of the distasteful decadence.

@some12watch309 жыл бұрын
No thank God I'm not. I live in Belgium but don't regard myself as Belgian, I just live there and it's not to my liking. I am by all means pro tradition but see monarchy as unnecessary to maintain your own customs and principles. It creates more distance between people with self-appointed titles and status, dehumanizes people who are not into that inner circle. It creates classes and hierarchy and usurps a lot of money out of the economy without being democratically elected. It is not fundamentally important to hold together a nation or several. Seeing as Belgium is becoming increasingly more secularized and faithless through leftist social engineering and cultural marxism, Monarchy is just there but nobody listens and most have only criticism to offer.
@Jappe202419 жыл бұрын
+David J.S.D. you are from flanders ? and if you where a true belgian you would understand that our king is the most necessary thing to unite this country , if he would fall away , who would be the president ? someone from flanders or from wallonia ? thats just giving the politicians another reason to fight between them instead of leading the country
@some12watch309 жыл бұрын
Maybe it is the best that there's a king to keep things united (for the moment). But at the same time, it's exploitative, monarchy, if you've studied history as objective as can be. Surely there must be a different model of society where strong values are incorporated, where there is freedom and democratic chances for everyone no matter what economic status or social background. Where there is faith through Christendom, and the protection of a country's own unique culture. This ideal system I'm thinking of may not even have been installed before. But I believe with all the different kinds of blueprints the world has seen thus far, looking for the ideal state, there are ideas that have not been thought out before completely and put into action. Christian Republicanism is one of those ideas.
@Jappe202419 жыл бұрын
+David J.S.D. i am not such a great fan of republics and especially not based on religion or ideology , we have seen in the past to what it leads , perhaps your idea of a state can work , but i am not willing to take the risk , power must be shared between a steady thing and the people , we see what to much power for the people can do , the reign of terror during the french revolution was also by the people and for the people , but it wasnt , but hey everyone is free to think what he wants so respect for your ideas and keep them , thats great in belgium , you can have youre one ideas

This is the reason why there really is no king in Brussels. Two homes were taken and the streets nationalized by a military group perhaps etc and then there's a king in the middle of the city none appointed and that didn't exist. Everyone is like W$#@ The two homes didn't marry each other. Why would the homes and the street be nationalized. This is however inevitable but the owners must be paid regardless. The issue being terror being imported into Belgium by foreigners. Actually, I think the Royals lived outside the city, something like that and then moved into the center of the city perhaps because they got tired of farming and didn't want to live like the British Royals. Now the story makes sense and redeems itself.
@tamaracarter18364 жыл бұрын
What do you mean “live like the British Royals”? Queen Elizabeth II has castles and palaces that are situated within cities as well as others that are in the countryside; so she also swaps between the two and isn’t always in London.

14:35 well...if I am not mistaken the Congo made the Belgium royal family one of the Richest in Europe because of the rubber it produced...I doubt it was because of any financial difficulty the mirrors were put in. The real reason could be the fact that the treatment of the African slave workers who died in their countless numbers to produce the rubber caused outrage across Europe and vilified the Brussels Royal family as murderers and called the rubber it produced Red rubber or Blood Rubber.
@Jappe202419 жыл бұрын
