Rohit Sharma could have been the best all format opener of this era as looking the way he plays , class, technique and timing but warner is by far the best all format opener of this era at least of now. Jaiswal is the only current youngster who fits in the all formats as an opener and has high hopes from all around the world, I don't think any other young opener has come and commanded to look at him in all formats till now. I really want this guy to do well in future although I am not an Indian supporter.

Firstly the team culture that there is currently in Test cricket is strictly a shadow of the Virat-Shastri era with that Rahane stint in last BGT. Opening wise, the numbers were just not justifying the name that they were being attached to. There's an Illustrious career Rohit created in white ball, he probably shouldn't have given up T20, but one inning wonder is not what you want/expect from your opener in test, you would want consistent 6/7 40s and above in every 10 innings and it has just been terrible for him. Virat once had that brilliant test phase where he was simply the best test batsman in the world, but sadly with Rohit in red ball, it pains to say that he probably never truly justified the opener position.

Just because we got whitewashed by NZ and lost 2 matches against aus, it is not fair to judge Rohit Sharma on his captaincy. He is not performing well as a batter recently but so is the case with most of the batters. What contribution have other batters given other than Jaiswal or Nitish or Rahul. You might question his batting form but not captaincy.
