That's a pretty good hike with a nice payout at the top. Another good day you had yourself there Joe.

Beautiful hike, Joe! Have you ever encountered a bear on your hikes?

Only twice. The first time it was a small bear running away from me. On that same hike, the day before, another hiker caught up to me and said a bear was on the trail between us. The second time was on the Holden Cove Trail heading up to the AT. If you check out this video at the 24:56 mark I see a bear up a tree getting acorns. kzbin.info/www/bejne/goWbmX2BZqaSr8Usi=z6AZMXhOgGTGDmqc

Despite having spent my teen years in Gilmer County and hiking all over north Georgia, I never did hike Rabun Bald. One of these days I'll make it down there for the climb.

This is one of the more tougher routes. Of course Beegum is trivial. Taking the Bartram eith from the North or South is nice, though both are a little longer.

another great video ....... how'd you get that camera to zoom in while you were on top of the mtn ... starting your decent downwards? That was cool.

Thanks! That’s an effect in iMovie called Ken Burns. It’s the same one I use on the stills at the end. You can use it on video too.

Don't think it was a bear digging in that log. You'd probably see some claw marks. Not sure, but wondering if squirrel? IDK, just my thoughts. The squirrel in my area leave small holes in the yard like that. Not sure about logs in your area. I'm guessing the logs were sorta decayd some too.

Yeah that log was pretty soft I'm thinking. Just wondering what was digging in it. It had to be looking for grubs, though.
