I almost exclusively use double barrel now regardless of what I'm doing with Scout. Shockwave mod with all the ammo? Crowd clear specialty Shockwave mod and full damage mods? Good for shredding dreadnaught armor and getting a good opening blow on hiveguards and dreadnaughts for a super cooling chamber focus shot to finish the cycle. Also good for shredding the twins if you alternate targets to keep them near the same health to prevent any healing cycles

i started using double barrel recently and it is really amazing. The double shot means you can take the faster reload and you don't need blowthrough since the shock wave is most of the damage. Max out your ammo or take the extra pellets for more consistent fire procs, works great with IFGs, cryos and pheromones since they all group up bugs.

And since it only uses 1 ammo per shot instead of 2, the ammo mods are still good

The Double Barrel's bonus to shockwave damage is actually a 5.5x multiplier and NOT a flat +90, meaning taking the shockwave damage increase mod gets it to 220 shockwave damage which is an insane damage boost.

A good thing to realise about double barrel is that it is not less ammo than the standard gun, if you always fire both shots anyway. The stats are simply showing 'both' shots as 1. Considering its use case, like emptying it into a praetorians or dreads butt, this means the ammo count is the same but you got the huge 220 shockwave damage (with the must pick mod) as a bonus!

double barrel is my favorite becaus eif you build it right you can have 210 shockwave damage and also makes it really good against dreadnought armor

2:16 on that leaf crystal mini-boss thing… you can have something’s like the fire rate increase, and extra pellets to have about half of the entire health of it destroyed in an instant… using two *rounds* of course. Edit: wait no, I changed rounds to shells originally… I see that I originally was correct so I’ve reverted it back.

i use the double barrel overclock for absolutely destroying crowds. with blowthrough rounds and that insane increase to shockwave damage you can destroy a crowd of grunts and such in shot and it's great. i need to unlock more overclocks for scout and would love to try the tighter spread for bigger targets weakspots

For combat I personally prefer cryo Zhukovs. That being said, Special Powder exists, so we run Boomstick all day, every day.
