Why SOLIDWORKS Manage is the BOM!

Hello; Can you populate the bom, by starting with a SW Assy file in pdm? A lot of times we'll have a file that's extremely similar to the last one. The first thing I do is do a save as copy & open, & some times I'm well on my way, just having done that? I would hate to have to being entering boms separate, as that's one of the things we're looking for manage to help eliminate.
