I’m not ashamed to admit that I routinely play this tune when I get to school in the morning. I start it either when I leave the bus or enter through the door. Then, I throw my jacket into my locker and walk to class while the “Daylight Express to Lutz” section plays. I also listen to it on the way home from school. It’s one heck of an experience. You feel like you’re in a much grander place than you really are and you really feel like you’re the Concierge of the Grand Budapest Hotel in Nebelsbad walking through the hallway with this playing.

The Grand Budapest Hotel and Interstellar are both amazing movies with just as incredible soundtracks but they are tethered to thier specific films. While Zimmer aims for grandiose and cinematic epicness, Desplat goes for a simpler melody with quieter tone. And that fits with the movie. The Grand Budapest Hotel is a much more "complicated" film and Desplat's soundtrack does perfectly as the musical narrator. While Interstellar is also quiet and deep, it is bigger and has its own perfect score by Zimmer himself. Their not compatible because they are both different and better in their own ways.

First of all, interstellar is a top 50 movie of all time. The grand Budapest is at best top 1000/500. You cannot compare Them. There are no list in The world where the grand Budapest comes close to interstellar. Secondly, cornfield soundtrack and no time for caution both have their own fanbase. They are huge with probably more views than grand Budapest itself. Zimmer was robbed for sure. All numbers pointing that direction

literally theres only one memorable theme from interstellar and its the one that plays in that rotating space vehicle docking sequence every single song here can be discerned more than "generic tense epic movie soundtrack for epic moments" that is too common to be heard from interstellar it compliments the movie better too aswell, you can literally put any song to the interstellar movie as long as its from the average action drama thriller, but for TGBH? that would require something really specific and it is this. interstellar score is no new way to make a theme. this one however, took actual historical and cultural research to make: -the tracks are supposed to be a mix between slavic traditional music and austrian ones -the tracks aswell are supposed to fit the tone of the fictional country of zubrowka, of which desplat would try to mix alpine instruments with classical ones in order to tackle a sense of regionalism -desplat's tracks played for very specific and useful sequences. he has a track for riding a train, for the policemen, for the prisons, for a monastery, for walking around a hotel, etc. you will not find anything close to this to zimmer's average two tone movie scores that would appeal only to your average merryman moviegoers that knows no better in music other than "hey it sounds good i guess"

The Oscars were on crack to not select Interstellar and not even nominate it for Cinematography!

@Bunny99s10 ай бұрын
@@alexsahel8126Right. To me the Interstellar score is not that impressive on its own. It's just the combination with the movie which makes it that great. It's a very minimalistic score at certain places. It certainly fulfills its purpose in the movie. Though as you said, it depends on how you look at the pieces. In conjunction with the movie or separate. I actually heard the score of Interstellar before I saw the movie and it didn't really feel like anything special. Of course once you've seen the movie it has a quite different meaning as you always associate it with the tension and feelings in the movie. In the end the question is what exactly is judged. Good music in a bad movie doesn't have as a huge impact. People can easily mix things up in their head as the movie and the music interleave and boost each other. I haven't actually seen "TGBH" but I do get why the score won. It's difficult to stay objective and sadly people nowadays like to get / be polerized and have very strong opinions on almost everything.
