I will never forgive Al Avila and Chris (penny pinching) I for signing Javy trash can Baez over Carlos Correa…
@Warden033Ай бұрын
Chris is 100 percent responsible for the tigers and red wings. His dad would be ashamed.
@OFDProductionsАй бұрын
It’s not like Correa has been that great for the Twins but anybody would have better than Harvey at this point
@SmedleyButlerianJihadАй бұрын
I remember being at games where Brandon Inge was getting booed by fans and eventually got sent down to AAA. Do you know what his OPS was that season? .548 Get Javy out of here.

I've still got to believe that buying out Javy should be priority #2 for this offense. Priority #1 has got to be firing the hitting coach and getting a good replacement. The reason I put this as the highest priority is multi-layered. It starts with a guy like Isaac Paredes who was an afterthought here and became an every day piece in Tampa. Then his counterpart, Austin Meadows, who tore it up in Tampa and I have no words to describe his time in Detroit. Then I could probably fill up an MLB roster with other players that hit everywhere else in their career, but not under the current staff. Spencer Torkeleson, Jonathan Schoop, Parker Meadows, Zack McKinstry, Colt Keith and of course our favorite Javier Baez all come to mind. Then there's endless players who maybe didn't have the same pedigree, but there has been absolutely little to no development. Nick Maton, Jeimer Candelario, Robbie Grossman, Tyler Nevin, Zach Short, Eric Haase, Harold Castro, Willi Castro, Akil Baddoo, Daz Cameron, Victor Reyes. The only bright spot I can think of under this regime is Kerry Carpenter. I almost want to put Riley Greene in that same category, but something tells me that he's great, but not as great as he could be. I'm not saying that Javy would ever be a quality hitter with a new hitting coach, but I've got to believe that they are letting him down, at least a little. I don't believe he'd be historically bad if we had a real hitting coach.

I am flummoxed on why the Tigers just don't sit him permanently or even send him to the Minors. I understand in now wanting to pay his contract of $98 million starting this season for the next 4 years. Is there something in his contract that says he cannot be sent to the Minors. I am very serious is there some reason why he can't/won't be sent to the Minors?
@WWXspartan058Ай бұрын
He cannot be sent to the minors, people with contracts like his have clauses precluding it. Its standard practice.

@@WWXspartan058where in his contract does it say he cannot be sent to the minors? Not a no trade clause but sent down. I realize it doesn’t happen often but not sure its a legal aspect of his contract

Ray Oyler of the 1968 Tigers: .399 OPS and .136 batting average. He had 29 hits in 111 games. At 5'11" and only 165 pounds, one would think he was at least fast. Nope. He had 2 stolen bases over a 6+ year career. Thanks @dmp4096 for bringing Oyler into the discussion.
@daveconleyportfolio5192Ай бұрын
Ray got badly beaned and never overcame it. One time he borrowed Mickey Lolich's motorcycle helmet for batting practice as a joke and started crushing the ball.

Blame the players if you want , but the real problem is the managent from the branch on up . Scouting is trouble also !

It’s crazy how someone can be so arrogant. That’s what it is with him, that’s why he hits the way he does. He knows what’s wrong and that he swings at everything but does he stop? No, because it’s arrogance. The guy refuses to change how he plays and adjust.
@dmp4096Ай бұрын
How the heck was it NOT Don Wert or Ray Oyler - 2 Tigers from the ‘68 team - they couldn’t hit their way out of a shredded paper bag!!
@user-dr7md1fm3xАй бұрын
Good call. I think Oyler wins this battle for the bottom. However, Javy hurts so much because of the amount of money he makes.
@dmp4096Ай бұрын
So I looked up Ray Oyler, 68 Tigers. He hit .135 and his OPS was .399… Is it because he only played 111 games with 215 PA??

Yup probably wasn't a qualifying batter for that season.

To be traded it would be in his interest to play well. There has to be a market. If you suck historically badly no one, not even a Mexican League team will offer you a return. I wouldn’t exchange a stick of gum for this pile of dung and I suspect 29 other general managers would agree. Cut bait and bring up Leonard or Kriedler or anyone and they would be ahead. Stop living the lie. It’s over
