You are partially correct. It's under a licensing deal, but Classic Legends own 60% of JAWA Moto. Mahindra & Mahindra own Classic Legends which also owns a majority share of BSA motorcycles.

Boys, which Jawa has defeated RE? 1994 in was in Assam n 90% were using Jawa as it was good for climbing mountains. But now its useless. Manufacture 800-1500cc bikes which would be good bikes.

@@Kenkalsi cc is not the only thing one looks before buying a bike. The feel is also a major factor for majority buyers. Not everyone wants a litre class engine. 350-650cc are more than enough for 90% of riders. Also jawa have recently started to expand its wings, if you compare jawa bikes to too modem RE like interceptor, obviously jawa will feel inferior. But they are improving thats what matters.

I have a 1975 jawa per wak. I love the streamlining of the engine and the streamlining of the carburetor. So art Deco of the time. I bought the bike because it has a beautiful engine. Such a cool bike.

Nice to see a faumous Czech motoecycle brand. Actually it's pronounced like "ya-va". Jawa comes from Janeček-Wanderer. František Janeček was a Czech inventor and after the Great depression bought a motorcycle manufacture branch of brand Wanderer from Germany, then proceeded with own R&D. After WWII blthe business was nationalized (=stolen) by communists. For many decades Jawa was producing famous motorcycles that generation in Czechoslovakia grew upon.

Back in the 80s all the way to the 2000s, the 350 two stroke Twin was quite popular here. In fact, there was a factory making some of these smoke machines. They they were super quick and had bad drum brakes

Correct but BSA motorcycle (jawa) majority shares are owned by "classic legends" and Mahindra owns around 65% share in Classic legends so, they may not be the parent company but the own the majority in the parent company shares

Just a quick glance at this and I thought that's a 2 stroke. Not because the intake/carbs but actually -the cylinder head design, looks very Kawasaki Mach III to my eyes. My older brother had a 1971 Mach III he bought new, and, amusingly my OTHER BROTHER and I had Lincoln Continental Mark III's ('69 & '71) in alternating colors Ivory tope/Interior over Sapphire Blue and Navy Top/Interior over Ivory White Body. We were living Like Magnum P.I. /Miami Vice on a shoestring budget, LOL

Gee, people really know NOTHING of Europe. He needs to tell them all. I'm an almost 60 year old European, and I got a bike. I used to have a Jawa, for a while, even. Do check the history of Jawa, the man who started the Jawa factory simply WANTED to build simple and reliable bikes. If you take good care of your vintage Jawa, you'll see it is far better than you'd expect. But yeah, if previous owners were BEEEEEEEEP, you need to get it back into good condition. Still, if you like these old twostrokes, that is worth the money you invest. Best is, do it yourself.

Yes, that "get it back into good shape" is the difficult part because the market is full of low-quality Indian-made aftermarket parts. One should look for original old-stock Czech-made Jawa and Skoda parts for a good restauration.
