This song is objectively one of the most if not the most expensive songs ever made in Hindi film industry. They spent 15 crore (150 million INR) rupees on this song alone and yes one thing you had already mentioned about 1000 female dancers. To put things into perspective in Hollywood studios are planning on using AI faces of background artists instead of hiring them and here SRK involving 1000 people in a single dance number. Reflects SRK's real life character of his immense respect for women.
