Sorry, but I have to share this story that my uncle told me years ago. My grandpa took him to see this movie when it was in the theaters, but my grandfather was known for falling asleep during movies, which he did, but he woke up just as the shark was charging at the camera in the scene where he breaks through the glass of the underwater control room. He freaked the hell out, and jumped out of his seat screaming, and scared the shit out of everyone else in the theater.

In case some people were not fully aware of what is happening with Phillip in his death scene, the idea was that the filtration pipe is pumping out millions of gallons of water and as such, Philip needed the rope to get through it, while the shark cannot swim fast enough to get to him. As the rope breaks (you can see he is like two feet away from the ladder) he is being pushed towards the shark and eventually into its mouth and cannot get out. Scary idea, jut not well executed.

Fun fact 3D effects never worked, not with green/red glasses of blue/red glasses , because the films are not off set, they could fix it today, but why spend the money. I remember the 2nd era of 3D, they showed old 3D horror movies on TV, during daytime, aimed at kids, so of course every one bought green/red 3D glasses, or made those.

@@donovanbradford8231Since Michael jumped from around 12 to 17, Part 2 would have been 1980. In the third, Michael has graduated college and has been at Sea World long enough to become senior management (and Sean has gone from age 8 to a college student), so by my estimation, Part 3 would take place around 1993.
@DXChrisCross
@DXChrisCross 26 күн бұрын
I always figured Jaws took place around 1973. Mike was 12 and Sean was 6. Jaws 2 took place 4 years later in 1977, as stated in the film. Mike would have been 16 and Sean would be 10. Jaws 3 would have taken place 9 years later in 1986, as Sean is a freshman in college and would most likely be 19. Mike would be 25. So, Jaws 4 would most likely take place around 1991 or so, as Sean graduated from college and became a police officer at around 24 and Mike would be 30.

The pipe they were swimming in was pumping out millions of gallons of water, which is why Phillip needed the rope and why the shark was not swimming fast to catch him. The actor who plays Philip FitzRoyce was played by the late great Simon MacCorkindale (1952-2010) a fairly well-known British character actor who appeared in several American TV series most notable being on Falcon Crest from 1984 to 1986 playing the character of Greg Reardon. His friend Jack Tate was played by P.H. Moriarty (the one with the big moustache), another British character actor and stuntman whom I remember appeared in the 1981 sci-fi film Outland, where he played one of the hit men who attempts to kill Sean Connery at the climax of the film.

@alucard624 I have the recent 3D bluray of FOUR CROWNS. Might pull this out and, with JAWS 3, have some friends over for a 3D double feature next weekend. I assume you know that those old red/blue cellophane things are not compatible with modern 3D...which look superb and no headaches. Glasses today are like light sunglasses, no color lens needed. Altho CROWNS (and FRANKENSTEIN) came with those old (anaglyph) cardboard glasses and a separate option to view it that way for those without a (polarized) 3D display. But anaglyph looks like crap in comparison. Me, I have a 55" panel set with 3D and a 4K/3D 100" display. It's great! I'll never go just flat again. Gonna get the Friday 13th 3D bluray when it gets a single release in a few months. (The box set it's currently in is a bit pricey for me.)

Great whites are a species that migrated long distances. So they think it could have something to do with that but there are other species that migrated long distances and do fine. Another issue is a lot of the sharks do not feed in captivity. Whether it be from stress or the fact that they're used to hunting. They end up only feeding on other sharks or things in the tank from what I've read. But another hypothesis is whatever they use to migrate long distances and return, seems to in captivity, go haywire and they end up just swimming right into the walls. They're not used to having any types of restrictions and don't seem to adapt well to it.

Fun fact: This movie is actually the prequel to the Flipper franchise. That's Flipper right there, at the end. Flipper is the beach-redeeming spinoff set in the Jaws universe because getting people back into the water became important for beachside communities. Canonically, Flipper the Dolphin has fought and helped kill a 35ft shark.

Me and a friend saw this in 3d at the theater when the bit off arm comes floating to the audience my friend spit a mouthful of popcorn in this older ladies hair which she had a really tall beehive that was sitting in front of us. This movie was packed not one empty seat we had to sit in the third row.

I projected this at my local theater when it first released, and I still have both the 3-D test loop of 35mm film for centering the lenses AND a few pair of the glasses, themed, of course. They’ve got the Jaws logo shark on the bridge! 😊

I don’t understand why the jaws sequels get so much hate. The OG is my favorite movie, hands down. There will never be another like it. But for what they are, the sequels are just fun. Even “The Revenge”. Maybe I’m just biased because I grew up on them. Either way, I love 2, 3, and 4, regardless of the hate they get from everyone.

The first FX crew was fired and replaced by an even worse one! The first company did not complete most of the FX and then the second company desperately rushed to finish what they could, but Universal did not give either company the proper time to finish their work and some of the FX shots in the movie are unfinished.

I would say it was the Jaws 2 attack that supposedly left Sean Brody traumatized. Because A. he wasn't old enough to have much of an idea of what was going on in Jaws 1, and B. he didn't have any phobia about the water at the beginning of part 2. Hell, he blackmailed his brother into taking him along out on the water. And yeah, watching as the one teenager who was nice to you gets eaten a couple of feet away from you because she failed to get herself up onto the overturned boat (that she helped you climb up on first) would definitely have more of a lasting effect than just being on the beach one time while your older brother had a near miss with a shark. From Sean Brody's POV, the events of Jaws 2 were 100 times more traumatic than the events of Jaws 1. Meanwhile Mike got knocked out immediately and didn't even know what was going on until he was safely away, so it makes sense that Jaws 2 didn't really add to his trauma at all.

I took my niece to see this when she was a kid and we got the cool cardboard and cellophane glasses and everything. There was a brief but fun period in movies when the old-style 3D came back into fashion in a big way. I got to see theatrical 3D showings of Creature From the Black Lagoon, It Came From Outer Space, Andy Warhol's Dracula, Space Hunter, Friday the 13th 3D, and others. They even showed them on TV and you got the glasses at convenience stores.

It will always be "Jaws 3D" to those who were around when it opened. This was fun in the theater and I remember reacting to various shots. "The height of the '80s 3D craze." There wasn't really a 3D craze in the 1980s, but very few movies scattered here and there, with this being the most publicized of the decade.

I myself am quite fond of *Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone* because it's a "space Western" that really seems to capture a "Western" ambience (due in no small measure to Elmer Bernstein's snappy, catchy score to support the arid landscape and daring characters). 🙃

REAL 3D isn't meant to do the stupid gimmick of constantly poking things at the screen. Its only meant to add depth to the image. They had zero intentions of having any of those god awful 3D gimmicks and were trying to do more with it, until the studio forced them to do some of the stupid camera poking garbage
